I agree with the topicstarter.
The game is changed too much since it's first year. The World of Warcraft of 10 years ago is not the same game anymore. Casual is what killed thr World of Warcraft of 10 years ago mostly.

The OP has discovered the Law of Diminishing Returns and that you can never fall in love for the first time again. It's all down hill from here my friend.
Hey, how do you know someone has played since Vanilla?
They'll tell you.
"Do not only practice your art, but force yourself into its secrets, for it and knowledge can raise men to the divine." -- Ludwig Van Beethoven
The best way to prove you have a biased opinion, and to ensure that most people that dont have the exact same opinion as you will not care at all about your opinion...i've been playing World of Warcraft since launch, and i must say... the game is pretty much getting ruined for me... what about you? don't you think so?
probably not, because you don't know better since most of you weren't there when it all began, when the game was epic.
is to suggest that your target audience "doesnt know any better" and make the assumption that you not only know better, but have more experience and knowledge on the subject you are talking about than them.
I feel the same way tbh. Vanilla was crafted with love and attention to detail.
Sure it has issues but...The game was better. It started to get bad after Ulduar, and then it got worse in Cata, and it's still bad now but it's recuperating. It still doesn't have the magic of the older days.
i didn't say i had more experience nor knowledge on any subject?
you're making that up...
i said PROBABLY NOT
because you DON'T KNOW BETTER ***SINCE*** most of you weren't there when it all BEGAN
need a dictionary?
for the first, i simply just said that many people here, even tho they claim to be old school players from 2004... haven't been playing the game when it was "Vanilla"
seriously though, sure... there have been a lot of improvements, such as Arena, MMR, new BG new Dungeons with better mechanisms...
but why would they literally FORCE the new players to miss all the LORE because you level too fast?
why would they literally REMOVE all the fun, and think that people want free level 90s with decent gear?
why would they literally GIVE FREE EPICS?
back in the days i had to struggle, i had to farm dungeons to get blue items...
then when i was ready to go raiding, i knew there would be epics.
what i meant was that people on this forum that haven't been playing vanilla is looking at vanilla as a booring game since they have their mind set that
"You never got gear, how boring"
"You didn't get 1-5 PvP items each day, how boring"
"you couldn't get epic mount until maximum level, how boring"
i mean WTF? back in the days we actually WERE SUPER HAPPY about finally achieving this... farming for weeks constantly just to get that mount, or exalted reputation, or mats for that onyxian cloak...
a person that gets everything for free can never be happy, he just pretends to be happy.
Working hard -> Achieve -> Happiness
w/e, people like you will never understand, luckily there's atleast 20-30% here that understands what i'm talking about, and they're the old-school players.
and what's that about linking an image of subscription since 2006 claiming to be a vanilla player? TBC released in January 2007
and he was most probably playing in the "Pre-TBC Patch" in which they changed how to get honor, every guild would make premades to get full epic for free within a few weeks of BG farming cuz of this new stupid honor system. put in new weird ass abilities and talents, introduced many fucked up things... Vanilla was from day 1 until that last patch of Vanilla was released. not after that.
Absolutely right.
The RPGers who were a large part of the original Wow community have all pretty much left Wow a long time ago. Wow doesnt cater much for RPGers anymore and there r much better RPG games out there these days.
Ur also right to say that the community has changed, very much so. Your personal experience isnt any different to all of the players who have already left the game tbh. They all realised the atmosphere of the first couple of expansions was lost forever... a big shame and loads of happy memories, but gaming moves on sadly
Dont read too much into the guys still playing who r criticising your 'nostalgia goggles', they dont understand your point, nay, they dont want to understand your point.
since most of your points already got covered with an explanation I'll just add that you maybe should take a break from the game for at least a bunch of months, maybe until WoD hits. It will increase the joy for the game by quite a lot and you can enjoy the summer a bit more.
If you insist on continuing to play the game no mather what you should try to turn on the WoW ingame music again and go to oldschool zones like barrens, OG, ashenvale or wherever you have been back in those days and enjoy the view with nostalgic music. It will bring back some great memories
This is a new and interesting thread topic. uh-huh. totally.

The game is infinitely better now than it was at release, and probably the only time I actually had more fun than I have through mop is during Ulduar.
How many complaint threads are you gonna make? There's one issue after another...The game had its glory days and I miss some parts but it's in the past. Move on and there are already tons of these threads on this forums, no need to make a new one cuz it's the same stuff over and over again.
the op sounds burnt out, there is only one aspect of progression that I miss, and its the ways in which gear is rewarded, they toyed with various methods over the years but i think these armor token things are boring as fuck. mix it up a little damn.. give us another token/bijou grind or something just to change the monotony of seeing these generic one-size-fits-all armor tokens.

I started at the halfway point of classic (German realms didn't exist in 2004). And the only thing i would miss is the overall experience of it being something new. The gameplay , looking back , as a druid was horrible. A broken class only good to innervate priests and spam healing touch rank xyz.
