Really not liking the level 100 talents... except serenity

As a BrM and WW I just don't like chi explosion... it feels odd. I do enjoy serenity though.


EDIT: I have changed my mind on Chi explosion.

First for wind walker....

I was looking at my damage and Blackout kick really isn't doing much anyway... so Serenity doesn't appear to be as good as I thought. I started focusing on using Chi explosion on 3 chi or more because of the TEB. In my current poor gear I can get 7-9 chi explosions off with 3 chi or more every 1.5minutes. The most I can get out of serenity is 10 BK/RSK which is 5 TEB.

So Chi explosion is more damage, more TEB, and better aoe but at the cost of being slightly harder to pull off correctly. This is very similar to the talent ferals where using at 90 to boost damage but at the cost of being harder to manage.

Now for Brewmaster...

Basically the same deal here. The focus is on only using Chi explosion at 3 chi but it is less punishing to use it at 4 when not needed. For brewmaster these talents are closer to situational. In the long run if you can use it at 3 chi explosion gets you more purifies/shuffle. So if you are going to take steady damage and/or need to AoE then Chi explosion is better. Serenity is better if there are short periods of burst damage with big downtime between (BK can be spammed while using purify and guard).

tbh, i dont like the idea of chi explosion, it forces me to micro-manage my chi, which is a pain in the ass

i'd much rather go with hurricane strike, but it seems overly random and adds another button to press into my pretty full set of keybinds i dont want to change.

serenity i've not played with yet, but i cba with another 1.5 min cooldown or another button to push, i'd go with chi explosion, if it weren't for the micromanaging.

With WW I've been using ChiEx, and it's fine, but in the times when I would normally Blackout Kick I instead end up dumping 4-5 chi and having to rebuild from scratch. Since I took it I've found that I get chi starved more and that might just be an issue of my playstyle. I just don't think ChiEx can be played with the mindset of a straight replacement for Blackout Kick. Have to watch cooldowns more closely to make sure you aren't about to starve yourself and you will starve yourself even with Combo Breaker. I'll be switching to Serenity for now. Not because ChiEx is bad but because I am a bad player who chews through my chi and then ends up chi and energy starved for long periods of time.

I don't like any of the lvl 100 talents for WW. ChiEx has too much downtime and Serenity makes the spec feel really spammy. It's also really stupid in PvP and it feels like I can't kill anything without using that cooldown in PvP. That's what I liked so much about WW monks before; them only relying on TeB. Not TeB just feels like a Savage Roar type of thing.

Yea ChiEx is meh for me right now.Using it on 2 chi is a waste to me because I want that TeB I have to play a bit more to get some better management on it but it just feels to out of place for me. Im going to mess around with Hurricane strikes just because,mix it up a bit.

I tried the talents on beta and I have to agree. Brewmaster here btw but outside of normal dungeons I use it as a dps spec (and heal in instances instead).
I think chi explosion is a great talent but it involves a basically reworking your play style and I'm not really about that. I like serenity the most so far.

I want to like Chiex but so far SCK and FoF are putting out more damage for way less chi and energy usage, plus I feel really chi and energy starved using Chiex and there's A LOT of downtime... Hurricane Strike has been hit or miss for me. I suppose it does ok damage on ST and is decent for cleave but again, meh. Serenity is the only one I seem to be enjoying.... 1.5 min CD to spam BoK and a couple RSK? Yes please. I don't mind having to spam my abilities for 10 seconds, hell I think Serenity is really fun to use. Also lines up perfectly with a trinket I have... Maybe that's why I'm enjoying it so much ATM.

Not touching Chi-ex with a ten foot pole after trying it. To much hassle for little gain and nearly useless as a tank. Rather go with serenity.

HS seems underwhelming most of the time and like most people said, the chi management with ChiEx is a pain. It should be a stand alone spell. Serenity is fun, using it at the right time brings the pain.

Serenity feels nice, ChiEx doesn't feel nice but the TeB stacks from 3+ chi ChiEx is strong. HS is kinda bad, looks cool though.

I've been running a lot of Heroics and a few CM's these last days and usually my setup is RJW + Serenity. I think RJW isn't as "bad" as people say it is? AOE-packs with 2 clones, TEB up, spamming RJW and FoF is insane. And Serenity will still allow you to top DPS on ST when using it after FoF when TEB is up ofc.

Well I do feel allone here, but after only playing with chi explosion since I hit 100 saturday morning I rly start to like it. It took some time, and will take alot more time to perfect the Chi management. But usually topping dmg meters both single target and cleave fights with Chi explosion atm. I have no idea whats actually better in any situation yet though.

I've basically just been swapping between Serenity and Chi Explosion depending on the fight.

I've been in love with Hurricane Strikes, as it rounds out my rotation and chi management pretty well.. It's probably not all that good actually, but it feels really good to use.

The thing i always liked least about WW was the short CD micromanagement and bloated keybinds. Maintenance buffs are cancer. Now the spec not only has yet another CD to manage (i dont like or use ChEx), but it has even more binds to place. WW seems like the only spec of any class that actually has more buttons to press after 6.0 than it did prior. We lost the highly situational Spinning Lotus and thats pretty much it. In its place we now have either another short CD rotational ability to find a prime bind slot for or we get a medium CD mediocre dps ability that we can macro Xuen to.

So why did you start playing it knowing it has multiple, hell it started out with 3x TP back at the start of MoP.

For brewmaster Chiex just requires so much chi management... I have enough stuff to watch when tanking so I don't feel the need to add something that could get me killed if I mess up. Serenity for BrM feels really nice and I find it really fun spaming BK, Purify and Guard with it up. I think its nice that it can function as a way to make a fight easier to deal with and as a possible defensive cooldown. Of course the other talent is fine for magic heavy fights.

WW Chiex makes me sad. Hurricane strikes seems cool but doesn't appear to do much which is kind of sad. Serenity helps a lot with the slow down but it is taking me some time to get a system down for how I use my cooldowns.

..and 3x TP sucked so much.

ilvl 626 ww here and chiex is great. Tigereye brew is almost up 100 percent of the time in heroics and i usually average about 28k dps on single target fights. Have yet to see anyone come close to my sustained dps over the length of a boss fight.

i almost always use xuen + chiexp and my dps is around 25-30k singel on bosses in hc at 629 item. dident rly like serenity.
