Check the combatlog... Hand of Sacrifice definitely is shown as absorb. Quoting tooltips is a very bad idea when discussing specific mechanics :-)

Edit: even the tooltip states nothing about a damage reduction... "transferring 30% of damage taken to the Paladin for 12 sec or until the Paladin has transferred 100% of their maximum health. Players may only have one Hand on them per Paladin at any one time."

    X_X ...

    Read the buff.
    It is not an Absorb.

Unglyphed Sac does (and indeed should) work as demonstrated by the above combat log, though I've never personally had the guts to try it because really there's no point. Keeping the soakers alive during recharge phase isn't obscenely difficult, especially if you have at least one warlock or a mage in each time negating 8 or 3 seconds of damage with their cooldowns respectively. Taking 100% of your HP over 12s just seems like an unnecessary risk to me.

The same works for this warlock talent sharing damage with the pet.

Hand of Sacrifice is a damage reduction.

It doesn't work on the soakers, Our paladins discovered this when we were progressing it.

Unglyphing sac redirects damage to the paladin doesn't it? The redirect part should work.

It only works when unglyped - we do this all the time.

Well we were still progressing on this but struggling so probably wont be back in here now for a while with BRF out. My healing was poor compared to looking at some other logs and i notice that pally's beacon swapping can pull some big numbers here.

I will be honest in that i can't get my head around how to do this as a playstyle and very little out there. Is this simply a case of sliding a beacon on one heavily damage raid member and spamming another e.g. after shadow or ice and simply doing that over and over? Is it macro'ing beacon and a heal - this doesn't seem to be the case as the beacon healing is the larger part?

Any skilled beacon swapper willing to help a desperate man out here?!! If you could share a log to help back up your theory i would be especially greatful. My logs last night were bad but the amount of casts is not far off others who are pulling throguh almost 20k more just via better use of their beacon (and not just on the barriers/tanks).

The only time you need to switch beacons is for the shield phase to one of the people soaking and leaving the other on a tank (unless you have a brewmaster who is kiting 100% of the time I guess..). Track the shadow debuff on your frames and heal the people who haven't cleared it yet.
