    Worgen/Goblin need an update

Yeah people will say they are fine and its not necessary, but I beg to differ in terms of what we have now with out playable races. Every playable race in Wow right now, post mists of pandaria, is on a level that is completely different to anything before it.
The reason why the pandaren amazed people wasn't just on how smooth looking their animation and shading was, it was on their expressions when doing anything, ahead of any other race, and when I first played a panda, it felt like I was playing another warcraft game entirely.

prior to them, the nearest to 'updated' from vanilla models were the draenei and blood elves, yet even then the animation style of tbc races were far and head of the vanilla models, we all know that. So when worgen and goblins came out, the animation and character design team were still using the same old technique from vanilla and tbc days of having expressionless models on a painted surface, as opposed to the pandaren whos faces were fulled animated.

I don't expect it soon, but I'm still hoping this will come before the end of WoD if not then into the start of the next expansion. I honestly feel like I'm playing another version of Wow when playing a goblin or worgen, just when compared to every other race now, they need fully detailed facial expressions, smoother skin definition, and smoother animation cycles, before it can feel like they match anywhere near the updated models.

There really does feel like a definitive line drawn between when mists of pandaria came out, and anything before it, in terms of animation and design.

    I agree with this.
    Nothing more to be said.

It would cost a raid tier.

I agree that they need some work done but it's definitely not and shouldn't be a top priority right now and Blizzard knows this. They WILL get reworked eventually so don't get your panties in a bunch. Blizzard has said themselves they will get an updated model but it's not going to be right away because of how good they already look.

    So just be patient.

This is one of the rare instances where I actually agree with this guy. Probably won't happen though. Very sad since I have toons of both of these races.

I'm still hoepful that they're gonna deliver on their promise and give us the new model for worgen and goblins. (it was mentioned in 6.0.2 patch notes that goblin, worgen and BEs will get their models in the future patches.)

They still use the old skeletons and don't have the same level of facial expressions. As there is not much demand, I don't expect them to do a damn thing though.

I for on actually prefer the "old technique" of doing animations, facial expressions etc. All these new ones are waaaaay too exaggerated (well, blood elves is an exception maybe). Also they're bad for machinima makers.

How are newer models with better animations bad for them?

Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann

Yes they need updated. All the models should be brought up to the same level and that should be the point to which all other models are made. Blizzard has this practice of moving the bar and leaving everything else behind though.

Just wanted to congratulate Blizz for giving the folks what they wanted, a classic vanilla world.

Overall they're better when it comes to texture quality of course, but when it comes to talking scenes it's worse.

With the old models, the face only had one expression, depending on the face you chose. While it maybe sounds bad, its actually better, since you don't know if he's sad, angry or happy. The voice acting would cover that part, and it would be believable if done right. The mouth also moved only up and down. where were no "" face, no "" or no "D:" face. Which made it easier to make your guy say whatever you wanted.
With the new models however the mouth keeps changing so that it's harder to make something you say fit with the expression the model makes. It really limits the use of the proper animations for a certain scene.

    Heres an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WigDKhma9pE#t=20

Now, It does kind off fit in that particular video since it's supposed to be comic machinima. But imagine those animations for a serious machinima. Wouldn't fit at all.

If it does eventually happen, it won't be until the next expansion.

They said they would update from a list, oldest to newest. If so, it would be Worgen/Goblins next - One day

Goblins are fine... Worgens need some serious work. Especially the females.
