Personally, I am absolutely fine with it.

Might in a way even give them a slight adventage. Dual spec actually covers both specs for them. No having to decide which spec NOT to select.
Maybe because at 36 class specializations they ARE out of ideas. Too many skills mesh with other specs and it's damn hard to find any original classes that fit the lore anymore. You can see all the warlocks and rogues crying about how DHs are going to kill their class.. I would have preferred a new race to a new class but I'm still excited about this.
I'd rather they admit they kind of ran out of ideas by giving a class just 2 specs over them adding in a mandatory 3rd spec and making it feel strange by watering down the other 2 specs.
And I agree, lots of great features and other things in this expansion so far. If they deliver on them, this looks to be a good one.
I actually really like it. It's like the ret/prot ww/BM feral/guardian combination.
You are either a tank or a melee, period. No need for a second tank or dps spec who might be better than the one you like so you "have to" play it. With only two spec you either like DH or don't like it. Plain simple, quite elegant solution.
I'm totally fine with it. In fact in a certain way I with Rogues melee DPS could be combined into two specs, and create a unique third spec or just keep two only.

No. Some classes don't really have three good, distinct specs but have been forced to have them (Rogues and hunters come to mind). For DHs they're right - it makes sense for them to DPS and tank. Healing Demon Hunters... no. They could have forced a ranged spec but it would be awkward.
I'd rather have two specs that do different roles than a 3rd spec that was added just because.
The only idea that comes to my mind regarding DH's having two dps specs is: One spec focusing on the usage of weapons, and the other focusing more on the use of magic and empowerment.
But then again, the tank spec kind of relies on magic and empowerment, I reckon.
I am kinda sad that there is no ranged spec based on Demon Hunters from Diablo. It would fit perfectly.
Much better than making a 3rd spec that just comes off as convoluted, and hopefully means they can balance the thing better.
I would absolutely have preferred a ranged spec but I'm happy with this.
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
[What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."
well when blood was still a dps spec for death knights I for one was confused why my dps spec was focused so much on self healing and not damage. I think it is a good idea for demon hunters to have a clear path for each build.
