The only bachelor party I've gone to was about 3 years ago for a buddy from work. We went to play paintball then went to a topless bar. The groom got a special lap dance on the stage.

Ive never understood the appeal of strippers. Have a woman get you all worked up and then you do nothing and go home! Sounds like great fun.

Guess people have never heard of dancing bear. It's not just a male thing.

But you got to spend all that money and pay 6 dollars for a beer, so there's that.

Okay but I have to ask now... did you drink it?

Men don't want slutty girls. They want a good girl who is capable of slutty things.

Men will throw dollars at slutty girls like a stripper for a little bit and be happy to never see them again.

Speak for yourself, hoss. I want a woman who's just as willing to walk out as I am.

    I know, right?

I guess that he doesn't have to tell me if they did anything spicy. However, if it is true, we made up for his friend's lack of hiring sexiness with some of my own on our honeymoon.

One of the most annoying things about that though, is when returning home (an eight-hour drive) the lingerie, toys, oils, and all of my things including a set of casual spring clothes fell out of my cargo carrier that was fastened to the top of my car. The lock was broken and a tiny sliver of it was open, snagging the small plastic baggie that had my things, launching it into the air from the vacuum it created... having it land all along the highway... It was so embarrassing... >.<

    True?

What? So...an old fashioned Bachelor Party includes a honest effort to get an STD just before your wedding night and doing something morally questionable, while also cheating on your significant other?

Just out of curiosity, did old fashioned Bachelorette parties included the bride getting plowed by a male stripper just before her wedding night?

I've been to 3. Two of those involved a day activity (paint ball/shooting range) and then a standard night at the pub. The other we went to a strip club during a night out but honestly it felt more like we were doing it because it was a bachelor's night more so than wanting to go. Personally strip clubs put me off, most of us went back to the casino fairly quickly.

We never even discussed the idea of hiring a stripper.

I think you were simply misinformed about how things used to be; going to a strip club with a good group of friends, who are trying to force you to get a good look at other women one last time, to jokingly break your will about the upcoming loss of freedom, is not the same as cheating on your fiance with a hooker.

    Strip clubs are incredibly overrated.

I still see strippers, never seen any sexual activities though.

The cliched Muric'n bachelor party always seemed rather pathetic to me. If you are that afraid of having a monogamous relationship, ignoring that I already expect that kind of before the wedding anyway, you probably shouldn't marry in the first place. Same goes for the bachelorette parties which seem equally pathetic. Glad that custom was never much part of the local culture here. While quite messy, I'd rather have a "Polterabend" if at all neccessary - or just a round of good sex with my future wife, because let's face it: Sex in your wedding night after the whole wedding crap is bound to be shit, being possibly (at least partially) drunk and tired usually doesn't enhance the experience a lot. So yeah, anyway, I'm not going to mourn for the loss of a custom which never seemed that great to me anyway.

I think my husband and brother-in-law went to a bar with their friends. This was years ago though.

Wouldn't be bothered if it was a strip club- I am not overly offended by strip clubs. But it would be really out of character for my normally super laid back husband to hang out watching some girls strip to "You Shook Me All Night Long". Bbbwwwwhahaha

My girlfriends just took me out to dinner and gave me a lot of lingerie and sex toys. It was kinda fun but it wasn't really like a movie. We spent most of the night in my sister's apartment drinking margaritas, chatting and laughing at weird sex positions in a book I was given.

the first few replies pretty much nailed it. Its just not for me and honestly, doesn't appeal to me to be unfaithful for one night. If you have the need to go out of your way to do that, then why even bother getting married?

I got engaged last summer and our wedding is set for october of next year. and for my bachelor party, im buying my groomsmen nerf guns as gifts. then were probably gonna just head to Atlantic City. DisneyWorld was too much.

Bachelor parties turn into a wake a the end were we mourn the lost of yet another fallen brother. It's a transition from the single care free life, to the ball and chain.

For those who think that these types of parties are a Hollywood thing, well, I can assure you they are not. I attended many in my younger days.

True story.... we once rented a bus to take us to where the strippers were going to be. Along the way, we stopped and ordered 10 pizzas. While there, one of the guys was chatting with 3 women while waiting for the pizza. About an hour later, they showed up at the party, and towards the end of the night, they had their shirts off and were rubbing up against each other.

Stuff like that was typical in the 80's and early 90's.

And at the end of the night we still had 5 pizzas left, so we drove around the part of Philly where we all parked our cars, and fed homeless people.
