Being happy and secure. Got no need for excess, am happy with a lot of things in my life and unhappy about others which I want to change.

- Physically fit and healthy
- Financially secure
- Having my family close
- My interests (dogs, other animals, games, movies, music, nature)

Sure I take joy in material stuff as well, but I don't long for a crib and 22 expensive cars.

When I was younger, my only motivator came from animals. I wanted a dog, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, fish, rats, horses and so on. For 2 whole years whenever we'd sit in the car, I'd pull out my book documenting all the dog breeds in the world and talk about dogs since guess what, your parents can't run if they're driving.

Nothing pushes me in life, I just go with it. Not to sound like a hippie but that's just what I do. Goals are a nice thing to have, but they also lead to disappointment if you seriously try for something that can't happen. Best to figure out what you want and what you can get and how you can get them. If you can't figure out how to get something, don't worry about it. It will either happen or it won't.

Case in point, I want a girlfriend. There's this one girl I work with that I really want to go out with, but that's not likely to happen. So I don't worry about it. It either will happen or it won't. Forcing it to happen will only end up in disaster.

Negative people giving me grief. I hunker down and tell myself "humpf! I'll show them". Which is fine if you succeed, if you don't you not only failed, the negative people will really give you a hard time then.

If your mom or gf give you positive reinforcement it's not effective cause that's what moms and gfs do.

Even then the positive effect from negative types only lasts so long. Next comes the marathon, can you get up every day and put in a day's work? How about for the next two years?

Mainly my goals motivate me to be honest, that is finishing my bachelor and then proceed towards a masters. I may or may not get a girlfriend in that time I just know women like a guy who has his shit figured out, to put it bluntly, same can said about women (that is how I feel anyway). It's a secondary thing however. So education -> rowing -> getting my own place (house made after my taste) -> romance.

I don't really have any fears to motivate me because I genuinely don't fear any such things. I'm a confident, kind, generous, loving, fit and intelligent bloke. Saying it like that makes me come off like a douche. I definitely think that when looking back at that bit before having posted this, but the point is these things motivate me as well - becoming a better person.

I guess it depends on what I'm doing. For work, I'm motivated to improve my performance and to do outside of work education mainly for the prestige of having a better position. It's not really about the money at all. I make enough to be fine. Practicing art is because I want to be able to express ideas in ways people will pay attention to.
