Chicago police officer charged with murder

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...6368&tid=ss_tw

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. The police claimed that the suspect slashed police car tires with a knife, but we'll have to wait and see what the video shows. Whatever it shows, the police apparently didn't want anyone to see it.

Burger King came out publicly and stated that Chicago Police deleted their footage on the murder of #LaquanMcDonald

You would think that security footage would have only corroborated their version. I wonder if anyone will be charged with destruction of evidence or perjury if their report differs significantly from what the dash cam video will show.

Here's another article about the erased footage-- http://www.nbcchicago.com/investigat...305105631.html

Last week, the police department paid the family 5 million even though the family hadn't filed a lawsuit.

Of course the usuals will come in here and say he was totally a danger to the cops life yards away, outnumbered with guns pointed at him and him only wielding a knife. Oh but he did a whirlwind attack! That's at least damage within 8 yards. Cops tooootally did the right thing instead of using a taser. That's too hard though so just pump him full of lead

A car is a deadly weapon this was the right choice.

If the kid just listened to the cops and surrendered the whole thing would have been avoided.

Im not casting an opinion in favor of the police, but a knife has an effective range of about 21 feet by most instructor standards. Its greater than this if we are talking about someone who is actually in very good shape (like someone who runs to stay in shape).

If the cops weren't trigger happy this whole thing could have been avoided.

And the guy was also crossing away from the officers so... What fear of knife violence?

What's really messed up is if you look closely you can still see him being shot after he's on the ground - You'll see some dust kick up from the pavement of bullets exiting his body and his body reacting to being shot. Damn man =/

If the girl just didn't dress in those provocative clothes.

If parents would teach their children to listen to the police this wouldn't have happend.

And thug culture this happens when children get raised by rap music and video games.

In what way though? Charging a person with a knife? Throwing the knife? Both are unrealistic when someone is aiming a firearm at you

Why can't black teenagers learn to be bulletproof instead? Huh ever thought about that?

Actually you can charge someone with a knife pretty fast. 21 feet is the min range of when pulling out a gun will outdo a rusher with a jnife

It's definitely a problem, and bad cops definitely need to be punished more. However most of these confrontations could be completely avoided by both parties in pretty much every case. Unfortunately cops are given the responsibility of deciding how much force is necessary in any given situation and a couple of the times (the amount of good cops still outweigh the bad) it is too much.
It's like crossing an intersection. There's shit going on all over the place and you don't panic and act like an idiot then do you?

The police claimed that he was shot after he approached them with the knife, but that doesn't happen in the video. Anyone who claimed that evidently isn't a credible witness. I would think that should even call into question any testimonies they've given in the past, given their demonstrated willingness to lie.
