This is how I always think of him, I got Labyrinth on VHS when I was very young.

It isn't always as simple as chemo or surgery. :/

This goes out to you David...

    And I'm gone gone gone
    And I'm older than movies
Oh let me dance dance dance
    Now I'm wiser than dreams
    Let me fly fly fly
    While I'm touching tomorrow
    And I know who's there
    When silhouettes fall
    And I'm gone

And I'm gone, like I'm dancing on angels
    And I'm gone,
through the crack in the past
    Like a dead man walking
    Like a dead man walking
    Like a dead man
    Like a dead man walking

    And I'm gone gone gone
    Let me dance dance dance
    And I'm gone gone gone
    Let me dance dance dance
And I'm gone, like I'm dancing on angels
    And I'm gone,
through a crack in the past
    Like a dead man walking

I normally don't care for celebrity deaths but this one actually brings me to tears. I've always known and liked him as the Goblin King growing up, but really decided to dig deeper into the musical legacy of this man about two months ago and how ahead of his time he was and his influence on music. Giving the Blackstar album another listen it feels like he wrote about his death within it. He couldn't give everything away, but what he did give us was amazing. RIP Mr. Jones.

not really the topic of this thread, but many people die of cancer. even for young, otherwise completely healthy people, with the best med tech money can buy, suriving cancer is by no means a given. and the average survival rate decreases rapidly with increasing age.

First Lemmy at the end of the year, and now David Bowie near the beginning of this year. 2 hugely influential musicians from different ends of the spectrum, both doing it their own way from the very start.

Both will be dearly missed and remembered for a long time to come.

Fuck cancer, seriously within two months two amazing musicians dead because of cancer. My day just got a little worse. Oh well atleast we can still cherish their memories by listening to their music.

    Hats off to David Bowie.

God damn, I'd gladly trade some of today's "musicians" for Bowie to stick around a while more.

    Poor Duncan.
It's sad that his dad won't be able to see his latest masterpiece 6 months from now.

i am not ready for this shit this early in the year.

David Bowie and Freddie Mercury were and are my all time adored music artists.

Bowie had 40-year + career in music as a singer, song writer and music producer who played hard rock, glam rock, art rock, dance pop, punk, soul music and electronica (amongst others). He even started in multiple tv and movie roles.

He was a legend and inspired many of those who havejoined the industry after him to this day.

This is a blow to me i am not ready for.

    Wow, I'm completely gutted.

I can remember him singing Heroes at the Wembley Live Aid concert back in 1985 like it was yesterday, I'll never forget that moment.

Such a massive influence on my life, thanks for everything dude.
