If we're considering 100k to be affordable, I'd have to vote for the Cayman GT4.
More realistically affordable, I'd pick either a Mustang GT350R or Z-28.

The new ford Taurus SHO
a 365hp twin turbo intercooled four door family car produced in small numbers that still get over 20 mpg
I love the look on the face of the guy in the Camaro ss at the next light after leaving him with a face full of dust
get yourself a old jeep Cherokee 4.0l and that shit will roll 300k twice, same with ford rangers
and if its Japanese trash it, they haven't made decent cars since the 90s-early 2000's
Makes a thread about affordable cars, almost every post are cars that a minority can afford.
A new eclipse you say?
I wonder what that will look like now the evo is gone. AFAIK it had the 4g63t and the drivetrain before.
On that note, under 100k
s15 silvia
Evo of any description -the X(and those automatic calamities)
s2000
Ariel atom
Supra
I could go on, lots of cars under 100k, that is about everything but exotics and a lot of the time they really do not do it for me anyway. If I were to spend a lot of money I would probably get a donkervoort GTO.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
I live in Denmark, so 100k$ would just be enough for a BMW 528i with no extra's
Volksvagen Beetle!
They are so cuteeee! I love them!
This will be my affordable car soon, once it comes out. I don't have a car yet so this will be my first car and at $7000 the Elio is easily affordable for me as a first car. I can be pissed scared with cars, but for some reason this excites the crap out of me when it has 84 mpg and 3 wheels.

There are no affordable cars in Finland. Unless you mean Lada Samara. A basic A7 would be about 40% cheaper in Russia.

Much love to Indicate for creating. Eis' work
Corvette C5's produce 350hp and get 30 mpg. The SHO with a twin turbo V6 gets 17/25 mpg, which is rather pathetic. Maybe the V6 is lighter than the all aluminum LS1 V8? Lets see
Ford EcoBoost V6 3.5 449 lbs
LS1 is 430 lbs
So explain to me again why does a V6 turbo get less MPG and is heavier than a LS1 engine from the late 90's, while produce the same power? And consider there are plenty of cheap LS1 cars to choose from.
Ok im gonna up the ante as 100k isnt really affordable lol.
Say 60k in dollars?

I'm more about used cars under $10k. I drive a 2001 Ford Mustang and am the second owner. Paid $4500 for it and have been driving it for a little over 10 years. It has its share of dings and scratches (considering 267k miles on the odometer, I'm past the point of caring much when it comes to cosmetic damage), but it still looks reasonably good considering the age and miles, and it still runs like a champ. In all that time, it let me down once that I can remember (and that one time cost me about $300 to fix, I'm not a mechanic myself and can't remember exact details, but they replaced...uh...a sensor or something to fix it). I feel like I did damn good to get that out of $4500.
Both of the cars I've owned have been Mustangs (my first car at age 16 was a 1991 Mustang, and I drove it for about 3 years before I picked up the current one), and I've loved both of them. So I guess if I ever got a more expensive/newer car, I'd just go with another Mustang, but a new one.

Well, I consider under US$25k affordable, so I'll go with the car I purchased in that range, the Mazda 3i Grand Touring. Super awesome interior, great tech package, beautiful styling, surprisingly good acceleration for a 2 liter 155 hp engine that gets 32/41 MPG.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Subaru all the way!
No. Just no. You do not know the awesomeness of the LSX engines. Engines touched by the hand of God, or so the legends go. Even with a 6.2L V8 engine it'll still get better gas mileage than the Turbo SHO. OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Super car prices aren't high on a Corvette either. Especially compared to a 2015 SHO with a 3.5L costing $45k. While a new Corvette is $55k. Used Corvettes, especially the C5's are a fraction of the cost. Alternatively you could get your hands on a Camaro, Firebird, or GTO with a LSX engine and do nearly as well in MPG and power.
Keep in mind that the V6 has a Turbo which today a lot of cars are getting Turbo to increase efficiency and MPG. That's why modern cars are getting them, besides the power boost of course. What happens when you Turbo the already efficient LSX engines? You get 40 MPG on the highway, not 30.
Plenty of V6 and straight 6 engines have been able to make 350ish hp and still achieve respectable MPG. Toyota Straight sixes as well as BMW's. Particularly the S54 engine. Not as good as the "touched by the hand of God LSX engines", but still respectable.
