Just wondering will a cheap 300 mbps one do or would it be worth getting a Wireless N one?

What are your goals/needs exactly?
A crappy $5 wifi card will work just fine for most gaming... in certain situations. Need more info.

i have been using this with no problem for over a year, but i am only a few floorboards and a thin layer of plaster away from the router - probably 20~25 feet in a straight line.
it depends on a lot of stuff really.. what is your situation?
Any cheap PCI Wifi card will do. If you need help finding one, just ask. Also consider you're limited to what the router can do. If N is all it can do, then N is fine.
