Describe your relationship with Suramar :)

Most of us are wowed by the city and look forward to the mythic loot. Beyond that, how do you feel about the overall experience?

Objectively, it has to be the most ambitious thing Blizz has ever done. The underground alone apparently fills the entire zone and I can't wait to see how much of it connects - both now and in future patches. The story, to me, feels more mature and complex than other Blizz quest lines. And I'm still learning the ins-and-outs of Withered Training, still looking for some of the portals and conduits...

Two of my best guild mates, on the other hand, two I speak with every day as we prepare for M+, are not into lore like I am and rarely even read the quests they do. They see Suramar more as a chore/grind necessary to unlock dungeons. I try to keep them motivated by linking the large AP items I get from those quests.

How do you feel about this new Blizz experiment? A bit different, wouldn't you agree?

First I was in shock (upon finding out just how much grind was needed to unlock the dungeons)

Then followed horror as I felt like I was running in water doing silly sideline quests that didn't even give rep just to unlock more dailies

Soon I became angry at Blizzard for gating the dungeons, flying and tons of AP behind the worst zone in the history of wow

Towards the end of the grind I became resigned to the fact this is what wow is now and it's do it or quit playing

Now after unlocking the dungeons I don't think about it too much since never need to go back save when it's emissary quests. One sad thing is though that on alpha testing I absolutely loved Nighhold for its looks, now it will just remind me of Suramar and that magical feeling is gone forever.

I really like it, gorgeous zone design, and lore filled quests. I also like the idea of exploring the zone to find more quests rather than just being told where to go to get the next 'hub'.

Generally I love it, but some parts make me want to throw my computer out of the window.

this is why we can't have nice things.

Hey lets create a long quest line, with many side quests run into to keep you busy, award tons of AP, toys, pets and other rewards end put that in a beautiful zone and a critically acclaimed city design.. On top of this lets put some pacing so people won't rush through it/burn out in a week and complain about how there is nothing to do again..

new community: how dare you make me wait for things and force me to do things out in the world to gain things! I want it here and I want it now! I also don't want to put a lot of effort into it so just slip shiny things into my inventory every now and then, k thx bye.

I like Suramar a lot. It's a really impressive zone design-wise, it's nice to have a whole zone dedicated to endgame progression and completion a bit like back when we had the IQD or IoT, only this one's at launch rather than patch content!

Unfortunately I do have some people in my guild who are a little like the people mentioned in the OP. All they see are rewards gated behind a mandatory grind and spend their entire time being negative and whining about how much work it all is, instead of just taking their time and working through the content. I dunno, I swear half the people who play this game don't actually enjoy the gameplay. They don't want to actually PLAY the game they're just addicted to the rewards at the end and put up with the game part to get that rush of getting virtual items or prestige at the end.

The story is very good. Last time i had a good feeling about story was in pandaland with klaxxi...

The map is complex and... nasty to some extend. I see why they disabled flying in the first patch, 'cause it would trivialize all the effort put into outdoor maps like that. But it is still... nasty.

And i really hate that withered scenario thing. I don't want to grind 2000 mana just to burn it in there to have a chance improving the withered to make it easier in the next run. One mistake -> half of your "army" is dead -> you can more or less exit 'cause you won't get any treasures, and farming 400 points with one withered left takes forever.

Its great because its different, also the east part filled with elites is quite a cancer, which makes it enjoyable. 1/3 to exalted.

this...moonguard stronghold and suramar city when you lose your masquerade because you run around the corner and somebody else ran through a guard there

Happy I'm done with the rep I have to do(on 2 characters), now I can just treat it like any other zone in terms of doing WQs.

Not sure I'd call the elite bullshit in eastern Suramar City "enjoyable" in any way. Having some kind of long CC that doesn't trigger combat makes it much easier, but on classes that don't have that, it's a pain.

This is why we can't have nice things. Because uncultured simple-minded douchebags like you don't appreciate great zones like Suramar and only want to get your instant gratification.
People like you are the reason why WoD happened.

Whoever came up with the wine quest and CRZ at blizzard needs firing. That quest alone nearly made me uninstall the game and cancel my sub.

hey! if you are not a tank the withered army can be really frustrating I cleared it easy on my second time starting with 20 withered but I was blood dk with stun trinket from halls of valor.

about farming 2000 mana thing. After you unlock the vineyard through questing, going back to the area and picking arcwines and petals will get you 2000 in less then 15 mins!

The place is beautiful, but the whole "Slalom around disguise-breakers" thing is horrible, i don't play WoW to do some "Metal gear solid"-knockoff, it's too much aggravation to be worth it IMO, good thing i don't care about mythic dungeons anyway, but it's all a bit of a letdown nonetheless...

The attunement quests and the world quests that follow are horrible but other than that, it's a cool place.
Raids are still the main reason I play WoW though, so other stuff is seem as a small distraction and not much more.

some quests are honestly shit with too many detection surrounding it.

and I always pick the wrong path first on a way to a quest.

other than that it is okay

Oh! Great tip about the arcwines!

The zone is beautiful, but what really impressed me is the city itself. Incredible amount of detail and a genius mixture of all elven cultures in WoW so far. After many years of half-assed orc/human stuff this came out of nowhere. Very world of warcrafty too, with most buildings having interiors etc. 10/10 considering my expectations.

I'm still constantly amazed at all of the small details in every part of the city. The amount of work required to fill out all of the buildings, rooftops, etc. with small "clutter" or flavor items is insane, especially to do so in a way that seems natural and not just cloned everywhere.

Quests are whatever, but I absolutely love the city itself.
