All compliments are meaningless. I prefer it when people express shock or disgust at me.

    "Awesome"

I'm sorry but yeah, it's a great milkshake, but it didn't really inspire awe in you, did it?

A solution to this is don't be a sourpuss and smile

    Nothing at all.

I am way past the point where I'd care about what people say about anything. I think I grew up past that point when I hit 30.

The things I keep hearing every time I go out and try to socialise are that I'm tall, I have a really deep voice and I'm big. I wish people could manage to be dif-fe-rent for a change. Maybe state something that isn't so obvious.

A sincere compliment that you've feel you've earn makes you feel good. At work if I'm able to fix a project that was going down in flames or do something that keeps an account our customer that does make me feel good.

If someone is complimenting me to get on my good side, it's irritating, it feels manipulative. Unless it's true of course.

I also hate compliments like "your hair looks nice" or "you look good", because on the day you don't get those comments you start thinking "does my hair look like shit today?" :P

You look exactly like your old man did when he was your age

I do, but my old man was overweight and avg height xD

    I don't think that's a compliment.

Now i'm wondering when I address people in the service industry as Ma'am or Sir, regardless if they are older or younger than I, if that makes me look foolish. I do it out of habit since it was ingrained into me from childhood. Didn't say Ma'am or Sir to that older person, that's a ear pinch/scolding/something negative you will recall this and not do it again later. Of course some younger folks do look at me funny, most just go about their business because hell its the South, they know the rules too. My mom said I was embarrassing them, so I do try to be careful in a restaurant and judge age there. If they are above 25 then its fair game.

I am a very happy and outgoing person actually. I am rarely feeling down or sour.

It's completely stupid to assume or expect someone is being a 'sourpuss' when they are just standing at the copier making 100s of files or walking across the street. What creepy human being is walking around town or chopping vegetables with a big goofy smile on their face?

It is the most bullshit thing as I said.

Anything that's not genuine or more about themselves; fe. "That looks great on you" from a person trying to sell it to me when I know it does not, or "I wish I was as skinny as you".

Its very hard to offend or seriously annoy me so not a lot.

One time the "Wow you've gotten over the death of your mom well" to 12 year old me made me break down sobbing though.

It's not a compliment though, it's usually said to people looking miserable or grumpy

    "You're so nice"

    "You're so attractive".
