Well, what do you think? It'd be interesting to see what everyone is thinking about this issue.

I'd say that the game's community and online following is primarily children, I do think there'd be a problem with an adult playing with random kids online, but I have no issue with someone just deciding to build some crap or whatever in singleplayer.
Also, this should probably be in the gaming forum rather than GEN-OT. I'd also assume you forgot to add the word 'think' in the title.

Why would it be considered childish?
What are your feelings on it OP?
This...is an issue?
They always told me I would miss my family... but I never miss from close range.
I think this is indeed an issue. Why would "grown ups" play such a childish game? Build things?
What about studying and/or working (believe it or not, there's people that do both) and then build your own things. In real life
I play modded Minecraft occasionally, and don't see how it would be particularly childish. Because of the graphics?
i don't play it but it's not childish pokemon is childish minecraft is to generic to be considered that
Nah, when you are done with your necessary adult duties for the day why not relax however (within reason)
To work on their programming skills and build mods?
Because you can't actually build a floating city in RL?
Because things are expensive in RL?
Because while you can do stuff in RL that you can do in Minecraft, it costs money and tools you may not have. Likewise if you screw up in MC it isn't as big of a deal. misaligned redstone, no problem, go adjust it, takes time but that is all. Screw up soldering, or fry a component becausse you wired it wrong? those parts are now potentially ruined, and depending on what you were working on, potentially very expensive.
Not to mention I can leave a redstone design partly done easily, whereas leaving a component unfinished in RL I would have to find a safe place to store it, put up all the compenents, let the soldering gun cool, and then undo all of that when I want to work on it more. so if I can only put in ~15 minutes at a time, I can work on redstone components, i cannot work on a RL project.
Likewise, i don't have the resources or space to build a mansion, or a rollercoaster, or more. And I can't see the way animals interact with things, or new mobs, because that's mostly illegal.
I don't play minecraft very much, because when I have free time I'd rather play WoW or read a book. But if that is somebodies chosen way to relax, so be it. Hell, it is even more financially responsible than WoW. You pay once, and then all the time put in is for that single cost. 10 years? ~$15-$25. 10 years of wow? over $1500.
And as for your statement about studying or working, there are also people that study, work(some multiple jobs), and play minecraft. Hell it even fits in better as it isn't a big deal if you miss for work or study, and when you can play it's easy to jump in single player or with friends.
Yes. Real men should play manly games, like World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaland!
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.
I play Minecraft with my 11 year old son.
Why do you have a problem with that?
I don't think so. My 11 year old plays it, sometimes my husband plays it with her. I'd probably play it too but I don't like boxy looking avatars. I like more polished/refined looking games.
Not if you're locked away in your bedroom where no one can see you.
