    7.1.5 TrickShot Opening & Rotation

    I've tested more than 300M, on dummies, with different builds.
    I'm 885 MM hunter, with Ullr and Roots.
    25% Mastery, 19% Haste, 24% Crit

    My live dummy DPS was around 340K without flasks food or whatever buffs.
    Key talents: Lock and Load, Barrage, Sidewinder


    PTR sidewinder was tested, with same gear/talents.
    30% crit was procd because the dummy's hp was low.

    DPS was around 390K with 30% crit, 350~ 360 without 30% crit.
    due to the hp status of dummy, I couldn't test dps without 30% crit for enough amount of time.



    PTR Trickshot and Piercing Shot both were about 440K with 30% Crit and 390~400K without 30% Crit.
    again, due to the hp status of dummy, test amount of no crit is not enough.

    Key Talents: True Aim, Volley, Trickshot


    This rotation is based on my PTR experience. / 16+ % haste.


    Opening sequence:

    1. Windburst
    2. Trueshot
    3. Arcane shot to proc marked shot
    4. Aimed shot applied for Windburst's vulnerability.
    5. Marked shot to proc vulnerability.
    6. Arcane shot to proc Marked shot
    7. Aimed Shot
    -Repeat until focus depletes.

    8. Repeat Arcane Shot/Marked shot until trueshot is over.
    9. AS as much as you can after your last MS.

    10. Arcane shot until 80+ focus.
    11. Windburst - Arcaneshot - 2 Aimed shot.



    Rotation

    1. Spam Arcane when Windburst is available.
    2. Windburst at >80 focus
    3. Arcane shot to proc MS
    4. MS to proc vuln.
    5. 1 Arcane shot if focus > 70, 3 Arcane shot if focus<50. for grey zone, it's your call.
    6. 2 Aimed shot if 1 arcane shot, 1 Aimed shot if 3 Arcane shot.



    3 Aimed shot every windburst is available.
    2 Arcane shot + 2 Aimed shot can be done with Windburst, but I don't know why I can't do this with Marked shot. Slightly short of vulnerability.

    You can get 3 aimed shots in during windburst and 2 with marked shot because, unlike windburst, marked shot applies vulnerable instantly. Waiting for the GCD takes over a second of the vulnerable window away from you.

    Wod dummies? Because if I recall there was the problem that ptr dummies were always out of combat therefore aimed dmg wasn't real

    They've changed the way AS work. If you see the new build, they did make some change note on first target AS. So the problem has been fixed. The damage was normally applied, with approximately 1.2M crit AS.

    Any test with Piercing Shot? On the other thread the math Calc are showing a potential max burst of 3.7milion on a single PShot

    Opening burst sequence is wrong. For trickshot, you want to go straight into your aimed shots after windburst to avoid focus capping. If you have MoC, you probably want to cast that before windburst which means no precast windburst before the pull.

    I am thinking more along these lines. All focus amounts are after the cast or global cooldown ends. I am also ignoring arcane crits, because the effect will be negligible for the opening (no risk of focus capping):

    120 focus

    WB (100 focus)
    Trueshot
    Aimed (70 focus) x 1.15 modifier from Patient Sniper
    Arcane (90 focus)
    Aimed (60 focus) x 1.45 modifier from patient sniper
    Arcane (90 focus)
    -pause-
    Aimed (70 focus) x 1.9 modifier from patient sniper

    Marked Shot (50 focus)
    Arcane shot x2 (90 focus)
    Aimed (60 focus) 1.45 modifier
    Arcane Shot (80 focus)
    Aimed x2 (20 focus) (1.75 and 1.9 modifiers)

    With perfect play, your last aimed shot will fit just within the trueshot timer.

    This opening requires 15% haste baseline. Bloodlust will be different.

    Compared to live, this is still a significantly weaker single-target opener than 3 sidewinders, 3 marked shots, 6 aimed and barrage that we are currently doing. The bonuses to aimed from trickshot and patient sniper bonus damage do not make up for the loss of 3 vuln marked shots and sidewinders damage. You also need perfect timing to pull off the aimed shots with the 190% bonus from Patient Sniper.

    Alternatively, you can do as you suggest and go arcane/marked after the first aimed shot. This is much lower single-target damage, but is focus cost neutral and allows free movement. Multi/marked during trueshot will be better on >3 targets pretty much always.

    Trueshot with Penetrating Shot looks like this:

    120 focus

    WB (100 focus)
    Trueshot
    Aimed (70 focus) x 1.15 modifier from Patient Sniper
    Arcane (90 focus)
    Aimed (60 focus) x 1.45 modifier from patient sniper
    Arcane (90 focus)
    -pause-
    piercing Shot (15 focus) x 1.9 modifier from patient sniper

    Arcane Shot (35 focus)
    Marked Shot (15 focus)
    Arcane shot x2 (55 focus)
    Aimed (25 focus) 1.45 modifier
    Arcane Shot x2 (65 focus)
    Aimed (35 focus) 1.9 modifier

    Piercing shot costs you one aimed shot in the rotation. With Nighthold 2-set and Legendary boots, you can probably get a trueshot for every other Piercing shot cooldown. Without one of those, it will be every third piercing shot. With neither, it will be every fourth or fifth depending on trueshot relics in your weapon.

    Lock and Load adds some unpredictability in here. You may be able to fit a five aimeds into a single vuln window during trueshot with favorable LnL procs.

    I currently would not recommend going with Trickshot and True Aim as they work against each other in multi-target situations. True Aim applies to the last target hit, and trickshot acts like marked shot currently (randomly fires around the marked targets after the primary is hit.) Unfortunately, your current target is never the last one hit, so true aim resets every time you fire aimed against AoE. I am hoping this behavior is a bug and that Blizzard will fix the issue as those two talents should work very nicely together (30% of 1.16 aimed shots is 35% of your regular aimed shot damage.)
