We are hampered by looking for intelligent life as WE KNOW IT. There is so much we dont know but just assume. For all we know there is forms of alien intelligent liffe here and we just cant observe it.

Why does SETI even matter besides the fact that intelligent life can exist on other planets? It's not like we will ever be able to communicate with them, neither travel.
