Trump Supporter Explains Why Trump Won

I wanted to open a discussion as to how the coast sees things, and how the mid west sees things.

We on the coasts tend to be more on the liberal side. We have plenty of jobs and opportunities as this is where many people live, in heavily populated states.

However, in the midwest, there are not as many opportunities, and not as many jobs. The man in this video explains in more details, feel free to give it a watch, and maybe try and understand how the midwest felt about this election.

What do you think about this message? If you feel that all Trump supporters are just racist bigots, do you take into consideration the things that are more important to these people? More important than LBGT rights?

If at least a few people see it, maybe they will share the video. That would be good enough to try and have a few more people come to an understanding.

My gut reaction is someone's been spending too much time arguing on the internet. I don't believe anyone worth having a discussion with believes "all Trump supports are racist etc". It's a red herring argument designed to reinforce the idea that they're the real victims of whatever they want to define as liberal oppression.

    It's all tiresome nonsense.

Most Trump supporters were either lied to or faked out by false news. That or they hated Hillary so much they would take anyone - but that hatred was also based on false news and deception.

But nothing he says is solved by voting for Trump. Sure he has some points with some truth to them, but there isn't any real "meat" to the decision of voting Trump over Clinton here.

Hard to say in some cases. But your not entirely wrong.

All the same, they were fed a message, one that meant a lot to them. The chance to be able to provide, where currently, they have no chance. Even if it was based on a lie, it gave them a glimmer of hope.

The meat was the promise of jobs coming back. Thats what they hold most dear. The chance to feel like they don't have to worry about how they are going to make it through another month of bills and how to support their families.

And all it was was a lie. Anyone who bothered to check on any "promise" made by Trump would see the inherent lie. They just couldn't be bothered and put what is looking more and more like a traitor in the white house.

Yeah that 40 years of being a political cunt sure was false news and deception.

I can't watch the video right now, but... what could be more important than everyone having equal rights?

But it was always a lie - anyone who looked at Trump could see pretty easily that he was always in it for himself - and would do nothing else except improve his position. Which is exactly what he's done in the not-yet-full month of his "Presidency".

I bought into the anti trump rhetoric at first. And I still think he is a horrible choice. But I do not belive 100% of his supporters are a reflection of Trump. I see the ones like this guy who are struggling to make ends meet, and are crying out for jobs. Which is what Trump campaigned on.

Not starving to death. Being able to afford medicine. Being able to cloth your children.

Sometimes, when you are desperate enough, you might be willing to believe a lie if it means there is a chance you will be saved.

Every candidate promises jobs. Clinton promised jobs. Clinton actually had a proposed system to bring jobs. They believed that Trump would bring back jobs because he said so.

I feel Trump pushed the job promise more than Clinton did.

How can he say this is for the neo-liberals when the current administration is filled to the rafters with them?

And while I can sympathize I can't really feel that sorry when the writing has been on the wall for the past decade or so. Manufacturing, bye bye. Coal? Bye bye. Automation and alternative energy is coming and people need to put their pride aside and start demanding that our leaders start coming up with a solution to this problem. Enough with the "bootstraps" narrative and promising jobs that aren't coming back in any sort of substantial way.

Yeah, there should be some dialog between the sides, people might even find some common ground.
