One thing I feel is a huge missed opportunity for Anthem is that they tried to force guns into the mold when they very clearly shouldn't have forced guns on all 4 Javs. All of them are so incredibly unique and different, IMO they easily could have made them proper classes and given them their own unique weapons like Colossus got.
Colossus -> Heavy artillery
Storm -> Magic elemental pew pew
Ranger -> Gun specialist
Interceptor -> Melee weapon specialist ninja
They all already are these things, but then they have this forced overlap via the guns for no apparent reason. This means the guns masterwork affixes have to be designed in way less interesting ways that all 4 Javs can technically benefit from even though all 4 Javs don't necessarily benefit from +% damage when hovering or dashing 3 times increases damage bonuses the same.
On my interceptor my main gun is only used to proc the 110% melee damage buff, I never actually shoot it for its own damage. My second gun is a crappy legendary (procs a combo when reloading one) that happened to roll with +80% max shields and armor and some other minorly useful stuff so I just use it for some tankiness. I spend all of my time dumping abilities and meleeing, so the games guns are completely irrelevant to me.
At least until I get a good legendary with ridiculous inscriptions. Games just not about guns.
