Almost everything you'd want to know about the expansion is available in a nice article at Polygon. Not a big fan of the site but the article goes into great detail on:

What are sub races (You unlock them and then can level a new character to 120 as them with their own trait).

Warfronts - 20 man PvE with base building against Computer controlled AI

Islands - 3 Man Randomly generated scenarios against Computer controlled oposing factions - will also have a PVP version.

Raids will have different bosses depending on whether you are Horde or Alliance later down the road in the expansion due to different motives for each faction.

Udercity lost to the Alliance and Teldarasil burned to the ground.

I recommend reading it to be informed. I think it was out as soon as the opening ceremony was finished.
