    Mt. Rushmore

So why is there not call to take it down? Started by a KKK member and showing two slave owners and another maybe racist guy?

Well because we aren't in a full blown civil war yet. If they try to destroy that monument all bets are off.

And unlike confederates, these guys didn't try to destroy the U.S.

Because Lincoln is on it. And people let the fact he freed the slaves to win a war overwrite the part where he and a Fair chunk of the North didn't think the Negro was an equal. So, anything with him stays.

Plus, it's a national landmark. Much trickier than removing a statue and probably has far reaching environmental effects.

Because none of them fought to divide the states, and none of them fought to preserve slavery. Yes, two of them owned slaves. But they didn't fight to preserve it because it wasn't a debate in the late 1700s.

I don't get why this is so hard for you people. These false equivalencies are getting tiring. "Oh but what will they tear down next? The statue of liberty?" (Legit meme I saw on my conservative brother-in-law's page.)

There is a call. I was watching Don Lemon the other night agree with one of his guests that statues of the Founding Fathers should be taken down because they owned slaves.

Ah, so complete ignorance is the reason people don't understand what the problem with the Confederacy is. Got it.

Yeah, gonna need a source on that. Sounds like bullshit.

edit: We're also talking about mount Rushmore, not just statues of them.
Im pretty sure we all know this has nothing to do with the traitorious part and everything to do with slavery.

What fucking nutjobs would ask to destroy such a monument ?!

Anyone trying that should be shot on sight tbh.

Because deface a natural aspect of nature that has already been defaced by some asshat in honor of his idols. Makes no difference to me one way or another.

The difference being they weren't Confederate traitors to the Union and slave owners.

Piece of trash Confederate traitors don't deserve praise. Only remembrance. That's why we have libraries, not statues.

The fact that history class has seemingly forgotten to teach an entire generation that our country fundamentally changed legally and materialistically post-civil war is the real crime here.

Edit: And frankly, I couldn't give a shit what a KKK member does with his money. I'd prefer he not exist and stop shitting on people outside his safe space, but acting like we care what Tony was doing out in the middle of North Dakota all winter long? As long as it wasn't skinning colored people, I couldn't give less of a shit.

How am I supposed to find something I saw on the news a week ago or so when I was at the gym? If you care so much, find it yourself.

Maybe if your bizarre definition of the country is the solely the government.

Why do people hate Jefferson if it's not slaves? He wasn't the only person to contribute to the Native American genocide.

Confederate generals weren't traitors. Hell if they left their state while being generals they'd be traitors and deserters. Lee didn't even believe in slavery at that point, but still fought for the south because he was obligated to do so. The only people to blame are the massive plantation owners and the government of the south.

Well, considering without a central government this is merely a collection of competing states. We are basically a married EU.

The Washington and Jefferson parts are both 100% accurate and have been covered by MULTIPLE news sites. You've been having blinders on or are just trying to derail if you're claiming you need a source.
