    Kurdish Independence?

    Kurdish Independence?

So looking at this BBC article http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-41279682 Kurdish MPs are thinking about a referendum on Independence.

What are you thoughts on this?

I know the Kurds have been awesome fighting ISIS and they have suffered so much shit from Saddam so do you think they deserve a nation of there own?

I always argued that if Turkey ever kicked the USA out then you would see a independent Kurdistan the next day?

Deserve is very different than what they should get or have.

Indeed. Because, see, Kurdish independance means carving up a Kurdistan from four different countries. Three out of four will outright refuse (Iran, Syria, Turkey) and while Iraq could be presumably ordered at gunpoint to do so, that would mean removing the figment of authority that the Bagdhad governement still have

Incidentally, it's crystal clear that what the entire region need is another round of brutal ethnic strife.

Turkey may decide to give them the Ol' Armenia treatment.

Yes, yes, yes. I wonder what will be the reaction of Turkey.

That could not be, for instance, going to seek Putin support.

Gee, I wonder which ''side'' Putin is gonna take between a completely random central Europe country and Turkey ?

    Huh? Explain your logic there.

Turkey will not sever its alliance with NATO because they need NATO more than NATO needs them, in exchange the Kurds will forever be fucked where they'll get lip service support as long as it's convenient for the US/NATO and will get shafted as soon as it is politically expedient.

Has been done to them before.

If Turkey kick the USA out, my dear friend, that's because they decide to go full pro-Russia, and two Russian pawns would need to be demolished before accepting an independant Kurdistan...

Armenians were massacred by Turks, yes, but also by Syrians...and Kurds.

And I was saying, in a completely random example, that Saint Putin have two pawns already extremely hostile to an independant Kurdistan (Iran and Syria) and would get a third by pushing Turkey in his arms. I was also stating that Putin is not going to drop those three partners for some xenophobic dudes in central Europe with marginal value.

Economics is a powerful tool! If Turkey kicked the USA out especially after that whole fiasco back in the USA and if Erdogan wants to flex its muscles then you better believe the USA will look for another partner and the Kurds have shown to be a very dependable ally!. After all the USAF is the airpower of the kurdish army against ISIS! The USA would then sink billions of dollars into Kurdistan and then tell Turkey to go fuck itself!

We all know the USA owns Iraq, Doesnt give a shit about what Syria thinks and If Turkey wants to play games they know they have another partner in the region with the Kurds.

In addition to the juvenile threat, the coton King metaphor is spectaculary useless in your case.

The Kurds are about to have a serious fight on thier hands. After ISIS loses its last bases, particually Deir ez-Zor they will be meeting the SAA front line.

If you look at https://syria.liveuamap.com/ , they have essentially told the SAA not to cross the Euphrates River. Thats the territory they will carve out if they can. Problem is the SAA have already crossed it in Deir ez-Zor as they need to to surround and then collapse on ISIS positions.

So the question is, will the Kurds fight the SAA? Will they be able to fight the SAA? And what will thier backers do? If Russian airstrikes start splattering SDF fighters, will thier allies burn them like they have in the past? And after ISIS is done, will anyone care about what the kurds want?

It is safe to say that the US will make sure it has a few places to launch it's planes from over there. If Turkey was lost another country new or existing would quickly take it's place.

Oh yes, for sinking billions, they would sink billions. That's for sure.

Also, I would like to spell out explicitly to the moderation that I consider the ''threat'' by our resident Magyar superpatriot on the level of a ten years old screaming on HALO that he have gorilla warfare training and he is going to kill you if you don't let him win.

I would like to see the Kurds get their own nation, they are a friend to the US.
