It's actually 50.6 approve and 44.9 disapprove if you look at RCP. Gallup is the only one that has him at 60, which honestly something stinks there, because if you look at all the other polls the approval and disapproval ratings are pretty even. I'm really interested in knowing what Gallup did to be so lopsided compared to the others.

Gallup has their complete questions here. It looks like the way they ask is by doing this:

Do you approve or disapprove of the way each of the following is handling the response to the coronavirus in the U.S.? [RANDOM ORDER].

I don't actually see any order other than Trump, so maybe they asked about more groups on other days or something. That phrasing is a bit different than others. For example, the Global Strategy Group asks:

Do you approve or disapprove of the way that Donald Trump is handling the coronavirus pandemic?

They get 49-49 for a result. I wonder if leading with "do you approve [of Trump]" primes more people to say no straight away as where asking about the handling of the response and then asking about individuals primes for more positive sentiment.

Or it's just random variance and there's no need for handwaving. I don't know.

Nothing here is a surprise to me however, i have often asked your white hooded kind what conservatism means, what the core values are and you can't name any as the far right breaks them daily.
