The funny thing is, that trying to lift up quarantines before its the adequate time has been shown to have a very short term economic benefit and a longer term economic impact. Short as, just a few weeks unti you see flare ups again.

Trump is mot thinking this thing through. Desperately trying to make everything work before due time, is worse for him than the opposite

Economically speaking... He's fucked either way. Trying to do what he wants would be worse though.

Rep Andy Biggs thinks Fauci needs to go. Apparently, an infections disease specialist and expert shouldn't "have a seat at the table" to deal with an infections disease that is spreading across America.

Republicans are going to get a lot of folks killed unnecessarily with this kind of nonsense.

Trump deserves everything he's getting though. Trump is lying and trying to rewrite history, and then attacking the people pointing out that he is lying to the American people.

That’s the thing... even if the economy goes belly up, Trump will still be seen by a large majority, as the superior choice to bring us back. The economic damage that his policy caused, to make him self look good, is now mired in corona spending. Where before, his deficit was around a trillion, the corona deficit is nearing 3 trillion for the year. The hit farms took from trade wars, are now muddied with corona supply chain disruption. If the debate is around the economic recovery, Trump will win.

When Biden debates the deplorable. He should start by naming 100 victims of covid-19. And saying that they could be alive by that day if said deplorable did his job

And also, going along with his economic re-opening plan, will not make him look good, as he'll have another massive flare up in may-june, coupled with the closure of borders by everyone else (if everyone else follow sane policies, they could be on the way out by that date, and say nope to infected americans).

While Trump tries to claim that his authority is total, with respect to states and stay-at-home orders -- no really, those are his exact words, wanna see the video, it's from FOX News so no blaming Fake News today! -- groups of governors decide that's not true, based on something they call "the Constitution".

    1) Six of them are in the northeast:

The effort is being led by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and includes Democratic Govs. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, Ned Lamont of Connecticut, Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania, John Carney of Delaware and Gina Raimondo of Rhode Island.

Later on Monday, Cuomo's office announced Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker will also join the coalition, making him the lone Republican.

During a conference call Monday, the governors said they will name a public health official, an economic official and their respective chiefs of staff to work on the plan.

The governors emphasized the importance of working together, so one state doesn't end up with policies that would put its neighbors at risk or cause the outbreak to start up again.

"Study the data, study the research, study the experiences of other countries, and give us guidelines and parameters to go forward. Let's be smart and let's be cooperative and let's learn from one another," Cuomo said.
    2) And three of them are the West coast.

The governors of Washington, California and Oregon on Monday announced they were working on a joint plan for reopening their states' respective economies once it is safe to lift coronavirus-related restrictions.

“COVID-19 has preyed upon our interconnectedness. In the coming weeks, the West Coast will flip the script on COVID-19 – with our states acting in close coordination and collaboration to ensure the virus can never spread wildly in our communities,” Oregon’s Kate Brown (D), California’s Gavin Newsom (D) and Washington’s Jay Inslee (D) said in a statement Monday.

“We are announcing that California, Oregon and Washington have agreed to work together on a shared approach for reopening our economies – one that identifies clear indicators for communities to restart public life and business,” they added.

The plan will address particularly vulnerable populations at sites such as nursing homes and long-term care facilities, building up hospital surge capacity even once the pandemic recedes, addressing the virus’s indirect effects on disadvantaged communities and ensuring that a system for testing, tracking and isolation of patients is in place after restrictions are lifted.

“COVID-19 doesn’t follow state or national boundaries,” the governors added, saying they will also each develop state-specific plans. “It will take every level of government, working together, and a full picture of what’s happening on the ground.”
Now as this Trumper tantrum continues, we're going to hear about the 10th Amendment a lot. Simply put, anything not covered in the rest of the Constitution (says the 10th) is the state's ability, not the federal government's. Now, Trump won't send in troops. He lacks the authority and, quite frankly, US troops aren't going to fire on state and local law enforcement or civilians. What Trump can do, is direct relief aid away from states who are reacting to a health emergency like it's a health emergency, and send the aid to other states who don't have stay-at-home orders.

If that's the move, one of three things will happen.

    1) He'll be caught red-handed doing so by the oversight mandated in that law he signed, at which point the House will justifiably react with a recourse that they've recently been reminded was theirs: by flat-out refusing to pass anything Trump asks for, until he sends the aid to where the sick people are. "Quite frankly," the House Democrats will say, "we see no reason to give Trump more money when he's not helping the areas the most damaged, like New York. The bill we sent him was for the entire country, not just the parts he likes. If he cannot be the leader of the entire country, he doesn't get to be the leader for 43$ of it, either. By the way, his conduct is illegal and also killing Americans. We'll be starting impeachment findings riiiiiiiiight around September."

    2) He won't be caught red-handed doing so, because he'll block every inch of oversight mandated by that law he signed. At which point, the House will basically do the same thing, except they'll also sue for enforcement and drag Trump directly to the Supreme Court. Trump might not have to go under oath, but his team will have to say, under oath, "Trump does not have to obey that law he signed" and therefore admit in public he's attempting a dictatorship. Especially when the obvious counter-argument is "then why did he sign it?"

    3) In a move that would ordinarily be considered petty and below the dignity of public office before Trump, the governors of New York and California, and others, would say "Well, I guess we have no choice but to protect our American citizens ourselves. Where can we find the money...oh, right. We can step back on staff at these harbors we run. We should probably cut back ships to those making deliveries to businesses in our states. And I guess we should raise property taxes on US military bases, too." After all, failing to protect all the taxpaying citizens in your area of governing would be a failure. A complete, fat, orange failure. With state budgets already strained and Trump withholding funds and equipment, I mean, it's not like they'd have a choice, right? Think about it. Standing up for the civilians under your charge, who are paying taxes but getting nothing in exchange for them, why, I can't think of anything more patriotic than that!

And I'm sure LA and FL can handle the sea traffic. I mean, it's not (cough) like they have (cough) anything else going on, right?

"But Breccia! Surely such moves would backfire and hurt the Democrats!"

More than, say, withholding life-saving equipment and medicine, just because they issued stay-at-home orders during a lethal outbreak? Sorry, but anyone who thinks Trump is right to, well, murder Americans who disagree with him, is not allowed to say "these Democrats are bad for withholding aid to the Executive Branch". Why, that would be hypocrisy, and surely nobody here is a hypocrite. So it's both or neither.

Sorry. I don't make the rules. The Constitution is the rules. I just expect to see it followed by someone at least claiming to love this country, you know, in between saying "my authority is total" and golfing.

    Yes, but more.

    A) Trump will almost certainly try to bring up the H1N1 thing. Biden should come prepared. Already COVID-19 has killed more in three months than that outbreak killed in a year.

    B) Biden was caught lying about how contagious the flu was, overstating it. He should admit that, and apologize. THEN, he should point out that he said something that erred on the side of caution, while Trump was saying things like "take aquarium cleaners, go back to work sick, pack into an Easter church and it's all under control it's one guy from China". Then golfing.
B2) And when Trump tries "I shut down the borders, while Democrats were saying --" ask which Democrats. When. What did they say, exactly? Because Trump never once backed that up.
B3) And Fauci said "we should have acted faster." Biden needs that video on his iPhone on repeat. When needed, he can pull it out of his pocket, turn the sound on, paly the clip, turn the sound off, and put it back.

    C) Biden should bring the Contract with the American Voter. And just read it out loud.

    D) Biden should also bring as many numbers as he can find. Obama had some very impressive numbers from 2009 to 2017. Basically, everything Trump tried from 2017 to 2019 did worse than Obama, including GDP, the DOW, unemployment, and the federal budget. He'll have to dance around a bit -- for example, there was greater growth early on because of the recovery -- but simply put, even if you use Obama's eight-year average, Obama gets better results, for less money, than Trump even before the outbreak. After the outbreak, well, every forecast I've seen suggest nobody wants to look at the forecasts I've seen.

    E) He should also have the "grab 'em by the pussy" clip loaded and ready to go, in case Trump tries to suggest Biden hates women.

    F) If Trump even hints about mentioning Hunter Biden, Biden should respond with everything Kushner and Ivanka were put in charge of -- without a security clearance -- and failed miserably at. The Middle East peace plan is a must.

    G) The big one: Biden should absolutely insist on a town hall Q&A debate with randomly-selected people -- nobody from either campaign picks anyone. Biden has been serving his country as a politician for longer than I've been alive. Trump, today, said "my authority is total". Biden is demonstrably smarter, quicker, and more experienced and knowledgeable -- he just has too much of a head start and doesn't have syphillis. This will go 153.67% better if the moderator is allowed to say "You didn't answer his/her question" if the candidate doesn't.

A random selection of Americans, purely due to demographics, will be against Trump more than for it. Trump will inevitably hit a question he doesn't want to answer. Yelling "Excuse me, excuse me, I think that's an unfair question" on live TV during a debate will also be impossible. Trump will be reduced to a stumbling buffoon, getting his ass kicked up and down the aisles by facts and the truth. Biden won't have to do anything but stand behind the podium to conceal his massive erection.

And even as I'm typing this, Trump kicks Kushner and Ivanka off the council which is why I had to modify F) above.

We have home rule here in Chicago where not even the Governor can force Chicago to open up, much less the President. Not just Chicago, any municipality with over 25,000 which is a lot of Chicago land area suburbs. We've kinda separated a lot of power from the Governor over the major population center of Illinois very early on, kind of a rocky history between Chicago and Springfield. But not without good reason, I mean we just got rid of arguably the worst Governor we've ever had, and have a competent one for the first time probably in my lifetime, just when we need one the most. Thank god for that too. But yeah good luck opening Chicago, Mr Chump.

In other funny news, looks like the Wisconsin GOP just fucked themselves with the aid of Trump and the GOP on the SCOTUS. They were undoubtedly hoping to swing the election in their favor by forcing "in-person" voting, banking on the fucking pandemic to keep voter turnout low. They're now losing the state Supreme Court election.

This was after they overturned the decision to delay the election to accommodate mail-in ballots in light of COVID-19.

Peter Navarro was on 60 Minutes whinging and moaning like a bitch that they're being mean by covering the coronavirus and being critical. Went on to complain that they never did this under Obama so it's just not fair!

...except they did. And their segment on it featured one Dr. Anthony Fauci, who sounded as serious in 2009 as he remains in 2020.

This is the strategy of losers, complain about other people. And like the losers that employ this strategy, it's a losing strategy too.
I am going to go out on a limb and say Trump will probably blame Navarro for supposedly never telling him in November, December or January about how serious and dangerous the virus was. Even though he tried.
