Which elder-care facilities have COVID-19? Florida won't say, filling families with dread

On Tuesday, the health department reported the aggregate number of residents and staff at long-term care facilities who have tested positive for COVID-19, the deadly respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus: 1,179 — up 217 cases since Monday. Most of the cases are in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, but alarming hot spots have metastasized in three North Florida counties: Suwanee, Clay and Leon.

    Which facilities are those?

    The state won’t say.

The state is facing a legal challenge from a coalition of news organizations. Begun as a lawsuit drafted by the Miami Herald, the challenge has drawn support from several other news media, including Gannett’s Florida publications, the Sun Sentinel, the Orlando Sentinel, the Tampa Bay Times, The New York Times, Scripps’ five Florida TV stations, and the First Amendment Foundation. The list may grow further.

Helen Aguirre Ferré, spokeswoman for Gov. Ron DeSantis, told the Herald two weeks ago when the records request was initially spurned by the governor, the health department and the Agency for Health Care Administration that DeSantis would continue to study the issue.

“We’re still reviewing it,” Ferré said Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, an attorney for AHCA, which regulates elder-care facilities, informed the Herald’s law firm, Thomas & LoCicero, that the records request is still under “review.” The request was submitted March 23.
What's the point of hiding information about the elderlies from their families? They will find out sooner or later.

On Tuesday, one of the largest nursing home chains in the nation, Pruitt Health Care, broke with the state’s blockade on information and announced it would post on its websites all positive cases among staff and residents for each of its homes, including three in Florida.

So what he's implying is that African Americans are too stupid to vote?

yes, and while also ignoring that those old literacy tests were often paired with a “reasonable interpretation” clause
so your passing wasn't based on how you did on it but how you look

Plus it's hard to pass test when the government puts allot of effort to make sure you never get the education that is needed to pass those test.

I just got an ad on this forum, reminding me to wish the First Lady happy birthday... ‘sign the card’... jeebus, does that actually work to get people clicking? Just made me cringe...

I guess it's better than when they were running ads for a white supremacist a few years ago.

Well, I guess it's actually about the same... nevermind.

I’m more pointing out that this shit show, is using First Ladies birthday, to get people signed up on Trump’s campaign site. I have never seen that before... kind of sleezy...

Oh, I know... it's not much different than the fake polls he was also pushing that were just to get you to sign onto his mailing list. Then again, this is a guy who ran a fake university, and is a literal con artist, so it's pretty much the norm for him. If showing pictures of his wife's vagina would get him elected, he'd do it. If releasing his daughter's sex tape would get him an extra 3 votes, he'd even throw in added commentary for the DVD.

Speaking of his "poll" about socialists, I wonder how he will try to spin that he's the biggest socialist President in this nation's history.

Probably a weird opnion , but i thinnk today a literacy test wouldnt be as beneficial to the GOP as they use to be(, because there is ALOT more low information white voters as well ( donnies base) thanks to facebook and twitter, and conservative media. and it would probably hurt republicans equally as much if you were to introduce a voter civics test.

just think about states that instituted strict voter id, some of these states are 80-95% white
kansus kentucky, winsconsin all have democratic governors now, because the people most effected by voter ID laws are uninformed voters who arent motivated to vote, which is donald trumps base that got him upset victories in winsconsin and michigan, and to avoid being hypocritical even if the voter supression ends up hurting republicans in swing states the system is inherently biased and should be overturned like the virginia governor did ( who also got a 2/3 majority of democratic legislature in a previously ultraconservative state)

Saw a Trump campaign sign in front of one of the apartments where I live. It said, "No More Bull". I laughed so damn hard when I walked passed it. The utter hypocrisy.

The whole check fiasco is so Trump. From the narcassim of his name on the check. Then the checks being delayed because of his narcassim. The cherry on top is him not realizing that most will go to direct deposit, electronic deposit.

Always the conman and marketer. He will talk about this in his press conferences and possible rallies spinning it as if it was his money.

I'm surprised you bother. This thread consists of 4-5 people racing each other to post the latest Trump news (how none of them have Trump fatigue at this point is beyond me) and chastising anyone who may even slightly disagree with one of their takes and accusing them of being closet Trump supporters. It's rare that a real Trump supporter finds their way into this thread so you'll have to do for now.
