WoW probably has less than 200,000 active players across the whole of the EU.

Numerous threads are popping up complaining about the problem of dead servers.

Dear Blizzard, any chance that you can start merging servers? There is way too many realms compared to how many people still playing this game, the only servers which are currently high are either RP servers, or the 2-3 most popular PvP/PvE servers out of.. What, hundred dead servers..

I am getting really tired of logging into my different character and see even new Dalaran among all cities empty as a wasteland, and I do not want to feel forced to pay for a server transfer either.

Something really needs to be done about the dead (low population) realms. I am currently playing on ER and it is linked with DMF. Honestly even with the easy group finding for realm quests it is so, so quiet in the main. Go to do some auctioning NO ONE in SW that I can see. Nope not a soul... Hang around in the vindicar at peak times and see only 3 other players...

I thought I would also have a look at the peak popular areas at the moment and I stood around an Argus invasion... Guess how many people I saw in 10 minutes? 7 yes 7.

Stuff on AH doesn't sell and next to no random and wonderful encounters with RPers. It has been so long since they did a bit of merging and I can't afford to move my characters at AD at £19 a pop. A huge part of the game is missing and it's forcing me out of love and interest with the game. My only other option? Put my time and effort into rerolling and losing all my hard work?

    I just expect so much more and a general buzz and liveliness in the game. I really think changes need to happen whether it is;

    More merges

So I was looking around the various realm population sites that try to gauge active players. Adding them up showed an active population at the level cap of only 200,000 players across the whole of the EU realms including Russia.

The MVPs on these posts were saying there might be an announcement around blizzcon.

I'm not sure if that would happen. If anything, it would be more cross realm stuff.

I have my doubts as even the numbers from the WoW population sites aren't accurate.

As well, MVP's aren't really on insider news but guessing like the rest of us.

And to add about the 'no random RP', sharding is at fault. People from the same server are STILL being sent away from each other.

    "Probably" is the keyword here.

Too bad it'll go 100 pages.

less than 200k.. not a chance.. there have been a myriad of "dead" realms since wotlk. it took them quite a few expansions to fix it.

lol, complete malarkey. EU has the most players in the world playing WoW. Id say closer to 3-4 million, US closer to 2-3 million, China / Asia 3-4 million.

The number is closer to 10 million, a lot more than you are thinking.

No surprise. Do any of the classes play well? I hated my hunter this expansion.

WoW doesn't have 10 million active subscribers at the moment. I'd say 6 million would be a very good mark at the moment, at best.

Doubt it, still in the millions. Issues going on in the forums isn't represenative of what's happening ingame. We're a small % here. Doesn't mean your experience is false, just means it may not as big as a problem.

WoW has never ever 10 million active subscribers. I'd say 6 million would be a very good mark at the moment, at best.
Peak of Wrath they did and a quick burst during WoD. So it's possible but I won't say I know the numbers.

They did mention they'll be looking more realm mergers recently in the Q&A, as they did way back before Legion hit.

I think we're over a million but not over 3.

Server are not empty at all. This is just the new Legion Engine that phase areas when there's too much people in these + instanced content that make it looks empty. To take my own experience, during WoD which had 6 millions players I only had 10 ppl in my friend list logged at the same time. Here I have more than 30ppl logged everyday.

We can't just assume how much ppl are logged in because servers looks empty.

They also tested server merging in the previous PTR. So yes, more than likely they will add a bunch of new merges.

Yeah dream on. They hit 10 million briefly during WoD and stopped reporting numbers because they crashed so hard. They'd hardly make it a secret if they had returned to that.

Also, check out the front page where MMO-C pulled data from Blizzard's armory for patch 7.3 stats and from "1.8 million players active in the last 30 days in the US AND EU". MMO-C is not going to bias data to make WoW look bad on purpose and the method they use misses a few characters that are not in guilds or something like that, but they didn't miss 8.2 million active players by any stretch of a delusional imagination.

    These posts again.

Its a dead period, do these retarded posts first week of the new raid, let me know how many active players are online.

My sub is active and i log for 4 hours a week, 2 for Wednesday HC clear, 2 for Alt/leftover on Sunday, maybe 30mins for the 3 day-emmissary world quests in case we didnt clear HC cause of absent people, do i count as "Active player" during the day when i am offline? Obviously not.

There are over 100 groups at the same time at 4am when i try to do M+, game is fine.
