Woops, looks like Jr. lied to Congress.

Sen. Christopher Coons (D-Del.) said Friday that President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., may have lied to the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding foreign powers seeking to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

"I am writing to you because I am deeply concerned that, based on new information we learned this week, Donald Trump Jr. provided false testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee," Coons wrote in a Thursday letter to committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

Coons said Trump Jr.’s September testimony with committee staff has been contradicted by recent news reports.

Trump Jr. previously testified that he was not aware of foreign governments other than Russia offering to help the Trump campaign.

The New York Times, however, reported last week that Trump Jr. had a meeting weeks before the 2016 presidential election with George Nader, who was acting as an emissary for Gulf nations.

Nader allegedly told Trump Jr. that the crown prices of the United Arab Emirates and Saudia Arabia were eager to help his father win.

The meeting, held at Trump Tower in New York, was reportedly arranged by private security contractor Erik Prince, the former head of Blackwater and brother of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

Joel Zamel, an Israeli political strategist specializing in social media manipulation, was also present.

Coons wrote that the attendees “reportedly offered assistance to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign on behalf of foreign governments and foreign nationals, despite the fact that it is unlawful for foreign governments or foreign nationals to engage in activity connected to U.S. elections.”
Call me old-fashioned, but if I met with a foreign country with the specific purpose of getting help for my political election, I'd probably remember that.

    I wouldn't say he's in the clear.

Here's a link to a tweet that has the letter where the FBI says it was not going to approve kushner's clearance, and that if he gets one it's because the WH gave him one.

Several times he didn't say "I don't recall" but made definitive statements.

Would be great if something actually happened to him to bring him down, but something tells me that won't happen anytime soon.

Essentially it always works this way. When you get a clearance, the FBI will run part (normally most) of the background check and screening. They will then send their findings to the relevant authority, such as the DoD, State Department, Congress, White House, etc. That authority will make a decision on the clearance being granted or not. They don't have to follow recommendations, or even read the findings if they don't want to. The problem is the system assumes that each of those agencies would have national security in mind in making those decisions, which the White House doesn't.

Glad you’re happy that trump is completely surrounded by criminals. Shows a lot about his administrative capacity. He hired the best criminals, right?

Its almost as if corrupt regimes recognize other corrupt individuals when they see them.

We know Trump and his people are corrupt. The latest example being the bribes they took from China. Even if you want to pretend that they did nothing wrong leading up to the election, they've fucked up so much since then that they deserve to be removed from office anyways.

But, we should try to be patient and wait for Mueller to finish. I have little faith in a republican congress to actually do anything, but enough of them could be forced to side with dems if the evidence is damning enough.

Lol, just keep on pushing that head farther in the sand. In the real world, there are guilty pleas, indictments, jail time already sentenced, and the investigation just keeps growing.

    Agreed.

I think this is why the GOP as a whole is pushing so hard to stop the Blue Wave, and conversely why we're seeing a record number of GOP resignations/not-going-to-run-again's. If the GOP loses the house, impeachment proceedings will be almost as soon as they gavel in the new Session. At that point, it will be the beginning of the end for Trump. Because it will ALL come out. A Dem investigation can ask Mueller for his docs/info, and poof, the entire story will be laid bare.

And I would bet a lot that we haven't even seen half of the full picture yet.

Kushner's security clearance is likely flagged. If/when he makes use of it, everyone will know.

Facts are just, like, your opinion man.

I am betting that Kushner will probably have everything he does with that clearance watched and seeing if he does anything they can press charges on and if the White House gave it to them against the FBI's recommendation, I am betting they are waiting for a chance to revoke it ASAP.

As far as the "No evidence" crowd of Trump zealots, as anyone who ever has or has known people who deal with the police. They don't come to you a year, week, month or even an hour before they are ready to pressed charges. They wait until they are ready to press charges before they come out with anything. And so long as they can keep that traitor Nunes from getting the information to give to Trump and Co so they can cover their tracks, you won't see the evidence until they are ready to press charges.

And given that this is a sitting president along with an entire complicit administration with complicit members in the houses trying to protect them even if it throws the nation under the bus, they are going to wait till they have an overwhelming level of evidence before they move so that not even the blindest of the blind an deny it.

Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

mostly because once charges are filed, the 6th amendment's "the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy trial" kicks in

Someone needs to call Mueller and let him know.

" Sir - there's a thread in a games off topic forum - it's reached 400 pages which clearly means we should halt the investigation"

    And thus ended the investigation.

He doesn't do well when people say that to him, so probably not well at all.

Nobody ever charged Nixon, so clearly he was innocent. LOL.

For anyone counting, since the start of this thread:

    1) Jul 17 - Manafort wakes up to find the FBI in his bedroom executing a no-knock search.
    2) Jul 17 - Papadopoulos arrested at an airport, the public doesn't find out for months.
    3) Oct 17 - Manafort and Gates are indicted. Gates eventually pleads guilty.
    4) Oct 17 - Papadopoulos pleads guilty.
    5) Dec 17 - Flynn pled guilty and cooperated with authorities.
    6) Feb 18 - Mueller charged 13 Russians and 3 companies (including the IRA).
    7) Apr 18 - Alex van der Zwaan sentenced.
    8) Apr 18 - FBI raid the home and office of Cohen, Trump's personal lawyer.
