Silvermoon and Exodar last bastions of defense.

So with Silvermoon and Exodar becoming last bastions of defense on each respective continent, according to Q&A Do you think they will actually get some proper revamp? Or at least will they be "attached" to their proper continent instead of being a part of old TBC map? I would love to be able to at least fly there.

The last bastion of defense is just an excuse for leaving them as outdated abandoned zones

Last bastion of defense is how they are framing it lore-wise; last bastion of "Wow we screwed up when we made those zones and we still can't find time and resources to rework them" is probably closer to the truth.

"I Am Vengeance. I Am The Night. I Am Felfáádaern!"

They are in the Outland map. Reworking them would require going back to TBC code. I don't think they cba.

They said no revamp for those two zones yet. I might be down the pipe but not unless they do something about letting the factions raid those cities as part of the war campaign.

They clearly do not intend to revamp those zones.

    -Last bastion excuse
-They will still be barred by loading screens
-Recent interview stated that city revamps are a pain

A half crumbled city and a crashed ship aren't bastions of defence.

When trying to decypher blizcon hype speak, always remember:
They were trying to sell you their cool ideas. If something was cool, they would have told you about it in great detail. If you have to ask yourself "I wonder if the thing they hardly mentioned, could actually be cool", its not going to be cool.
"And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five?
A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head."

Funny how their 'you didnt buy TBC so you can access these zones, to ensure that we will make them gated' strategy still keeps biting them in the ass, lol.
To think that within 10 years they werent able to find time/resources to integrate these zones into the EK/Kalimdor maps is just ridiculous. Silvermoon from the bird's view would be gorgeous.

Certainly not in its current state. You can climb onto a mountain behind Silvermoon and see it in all of its smoke and mirror glory. There's just massive voids of empty space between buildings. It's been like a decade though. You'd think by now a fully functioning Draenei settlement would have been established that isn't made out of bits and pieces of crash sites. The Dead Scar and Ghostlands should be at least partially healed, if not fully dealt with, as well as the city rebuilt (and imo, redesigned so its layout is more similar to that of Suramar instead of glorified paths with building facades). If they want these areas to be the last bastions for the horde and alliance on their respective continents, make it look that way. You've already got blood elves in the isles and night elves in Quel'thalas. Add in some of the other faction races and bolster their presence. Make the four zones about fending off the opposing faction and solidifying the boundaries of yours. Most of the 10-20 zones are already about the war in some form or another. The transition into the older zones would hardly be noticeable since the major expansion changes don't occur until after you go through Legion.

It baffles me we've gone so long without these zones being incorporated into the story of the main continents, or even the map itself.

For silvermoon they could pretty much just copy some of the Nightborn architecture and use the filling tool on the textures. It's still effort that they will probably never be willingly do, unless they want to reuse the location for something major. I still hope that the Bloodelves nuke the sunwell and take out all of northern kalimdor as a big "fuck you!" to the alliance :P.

Why would the blood elves nuke the sunwell? It's their source of life, basically. The blood elves have always been more about advancing their own civilization than the horde in general. Once they have all of Quel'thalas rebuilt and under their control, There's not much reason for them to extend beyond there. The southern part of the kingdom is an easily defensible choke point. With the Undercity lost, any attempt to expand into the plaguelands would be a suicide mission.

And give up on their natural defense? No way in hell. The best kind of defense too, the fabled loading screen!

I would love both of these cities to be revamped so much. Silvermoon put back together would bring life to it. Exodar could be fixed and floating with a cool draenei stairway leading in, i'm sure lightforged players would love to hang out there. Sadly it won't happen.

When the bad writing comes for their asses it would be preferable to just having the whole continent turn into a "blue zone".

Yeah I know. What I meant was, if they improved it to be on par with current capitals standards (i wouldnt even hope for them to make it on par with suramar).

This exactly. The zones will remain behind portals and the storyline is still the same as in TBC. Business as usual.

I really don't see the problem to be honest. You could fly in Silvermoon during multiple expansions before they fixed it. All you had to do was get on your flying mount and enter a portal to Silvermoon and you'd arrive there flying.

The only real problem I could spot was that tall buildings in Silvermoon weren't textured. Other than that everything seemed to work just fine. Flying above the Ghostlands and Eversong was beautiful.

I honestly don't see why Blizzard hasn't fixed this years ago. All the city needs is some more textures. Big deal.

Funny thing, J. allen even joked on stage abut allaince won even go there, because of the loading screen etc, can see it as a hint, but also as of nothing at all and he just tried to be funny.

Blizzard is going to ignore those zones exist, as always.

Have you seen Ironforge? NO ONE is ever going to invade/destroy ironforge, it is probably the safest city in WoW
