    TTRPG Class Idea: Necroranger

Basically, they are a combination of a Ranger and Necromancer, like a ranger they use bow (though they have dual axes for close combat), but they have an undead pet, and unlike a necromancer who raises many undead, the Necroranger has just one pet, but the bond between the Necroranger and their pet is unbreakable and much stronger, and the Necroranger can summon a new body for their pet from their necklace. The pet has three forms: Bear (most powerful), Bird Of Prey (most agile), or Wolf (balanced).

Not sure which Tabletop RPG this class would fit in.

This isn't about Warcraft. It is a combination of a necromancer with that of a ranger.

The main difference between a Necroranger and a normal Ranger is their use of necromatic magic and having a transforming pet.

It feels like a class that would have a classic hunter/ranger backstory, but something happened to the character or the world around them that prompted them to seek out necromatic magic to continue their profession.

My personal backstory for them would be that they were nearly sacrificed by necromancers but rescued by their pet, at the cost of said pet's life, but the necromantic energies gave them the ability to raise save their pet's soul and put it into a gem, allowing them to summon their pet at will in the three forms. The pet consented, of course. Unlike what one may believe, my characterization of this class would not be a "oh woe is me" type of character.
