In a way, I believe with some it just manifested itself deeper within them and made them worse (and in a lot of cases, bloody irritating to be around).
The point of youtubing about condition x, which is what this thread is about, is that condition x probably affects some of your subscribers and they will benefit by knowing someone they probably like also has condition x. They may feel better about themselves by being less isolated and possibly learn ways to cope with the condition.

If you suffer from social anxiety then your good friends need to know. They need to know the reason you don't come out all the time, or seem agitated when you do, is down to social anxiety rather than the fact you simply don't like them.

Youtubers are people too, with real people afflictions. The fact that they have more subscribers than god doesn't make them exempt from, say, depression.

Kind of like how a lot of Comedians have depression. Also, actors that have anxiety (losing yourself in a role absolutely helps, since you're no longer yourself).

Yes, abnormal, unpopular, unsuccessful and bad looking girls or guys pretending they are the only ones allowed to have mental health issues.

Humans are human. Some issues transcend the hand you were dealt at birth.

Sure you can develop issues from rejection that is in turn at least partially caused by physical unattractiveness, but you cant make a general rule out of this. At the same time, social anxiety can be caused by events that were in turn caused by a response to your physical attractiveness.

So - how is being attractive related to mental health issues? Its not. Being physically attractive isnt a mystical ward against anxiety or mental health issues.

I could make a post about how and why it has increased, but I most assuredly would get banned.

There's a subreddit that exists for you y'know.

Regardless, all you need to say is "I don't have much 'in common with/to talk about' with most people. You sound less pretentious. For all you know everyone thinks you're predictable, vapid and uninteresting. Now wouldn't you rather them just say they don't have much in common with you?

Would it all be pure guess work and non constructive? Or are you willing to admit that you don't know for sure and are just talking out your posterior?

Fact of the matter is, the social norm has changed. Social anxiety more common in generations with less face to face contact with people and more online time, where parents are working more hours to make ends meet and can't have the same quality family time as previous generations? How scandalous a theory. Ban worthy for sure.

    Yeah, you're probably right.

Most youtubers are total autists. They are successful specifically because they can stay home and avoid being exposed to direct social interaction.

That, and with family values being torn down less and less people are receiving proper models for socialization. I only started trying to go out after my stint in the army - at 21 - and it's been rough going.

I'd even say being around people would be much easier if at least half of them knew what the hell they wanted.

OP didn't provide any examples. This is the top social anxiety video on YouTube, it seems kind of scientific to me.

I get social anxiety during public speaking so I have some sense of it. People with the disorder get the symptoms all the time which would suck.

I wish I cared enough to talk about this.

I wish I cared enough to reply to people when they ask why I posted this comment in the first place, even though I don't care about the situation whatsoever.

I wish I cared about the OP, and his thread.

And, lastly, I wish I cared about those Youtubers.

    But, alas, I don't.

    And neither should you, OP.

i can fake it in real life for a while, as long as i don't have to talk much, i can only talk a bit. but if i go too long, i start to tremble. eventually it gets to the point that it looks like i'm hypothermic i'm shaking so bad. then when i get home i crash so hard and need to rest.

online, i can talk ok in public channels like in general chat or trade chat, where it's more faceless. on this forum, i'm somewhat ok too. but then sometimes, when spoken to directly in wow or other places, i'll completely lock up. i'm on an rp server in wow, and i've never rped because of this.

Yet another reason not to watch these idiots. Seriously, how lame must your life be if you sit around watching youtubers for entertainment? (Generic "you," not directed at op)

Mental issues always get me flamed because I think people should just sack up.
