Cheating exists because society is continuously trying to push people into long term relationships that they don't want. The truth are that very few relationships can survive a lifetime, while society expects that form just about every marriage.

Also, why do you think this is a new idea? People have been cheating, having affairs and multiple partners since forever.

In Small towns it's difficult to get away with cheating because everyone knows everything about you. You can try to get away with cheating but the odds of your cheating getting back to your mate is very high.

because cheating was always normal .

historicaly women were staying at home raising kids while men f...ed around as much as they wanted. it wasnt untill 20th century when women went to work and could start leaving their husbands when it started to "not be ok" - in past they had no choice else they would starve so having misttress or couple of them was accepted as there was nothing they could have done to prevent it.

A lot of people are in a relationship while they should not be, some might even be together just for financial reasons looking at the cost of living nowadays.

In my opinion, if you are looking for just fuck buddies and having some decent friendship with it. It is not outside the realm of possibilities.

As for why it is being show on TV, in adds and so on. Sex sells it is that simple.
