If video games are now a social phenomenon, can they justify extreme emotions?

People like to claim video games are a social phenomenon these days compared to the PS2 era, where it was some self-contained nerd shit.

Well with that claim in mind, can video games justify extreme emotions like feelings of murderous hatred and deep-rooted anger? I'm really not joking with this and being completely serious. Is it very possible games can feed into or produce these feelings or is it supposedly entirely on the person not being well?

Like, I have my reasons for asking. I just think I am being torn up (as in, to shreds) so much mentally by feelings of murderous hatred for other people in some online games to such an extent I'm wondering if it's normal or justifiable.

If one is having harmful or threatening emotions or impulses from video games (or really anything), they should seek out a professional for help as that is not normal or healthy.

Not an appropriate or constructive topic for MMOC, so closing this now.
