    CPU is fine.
Throw out the GPU and SSD.
Aim for a 1070 if you play on 1080p go for a 1080 if play on 1440p
Maybe got for 1070 TI if the 1080 cost 70$ +.
Get a 512GB SSD so all games fit on it.

People keep on forgetting to put in their display stats.
Which is one of the most important things we need to know.

Will I need to get a newer mobo to support a much newer gpu?

It is grossly overlooked. I see people on here recommending high end gpus to people that game @ 1080p like above posters...

Your Mobo is fine it will support your new gpu, you could even tweak your CPU a bit as you seem ready to overclock your system as it is now.

    Since when is a 1070 or a 1080 highend ?
A 1070 for 1080p is great when you want to play at 144hz.

OP never said he was playing on 144Hz monitor.

    1080p @ 60Hz a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 will suffice, hell even a GTX 1060 3GB or RX570 for that matter.

But he also never said he got a 60hz 1080p screen and since he spend alot on his pc the last years i would assume he got a better screen.

Looking at the games he playes, looking at his old pc specs and i would be suprice if he just game at 60hz.
"Cheap" 100hz+ 1080p TN panel are very commen for the majority of FPS gamers.

You do know what the word "assume" means right?

Until he says what monitor specs he has ....

I could do the same, meh, with his PC specs I bet hes playing on a 24" 1080p screen, since he is using a GTX 770...

    Doesn't matter what you assume.

Yes i know what it means and since he didnt tell what his screen is i assume what kind of screen he might have on the information that are there.
Its not like a normal GTX 1070 would be a bad pick for 1080p 60hz gaming, there are so many shitty AAA games that dont run above 60-70hz on a GTX 1070.
Also he went 4 years ago with a GTX 770 so maybe he want to stay on this price level of a mid-tier GPU.

    I’m using DELL U2413

    - - - Updated - - -

    Resolution: 1920 x 1200
    Brand: Dell
    Size: 24 in
    Connector type: HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI
    Maximum refresh rate: 76 Hz

  16. #16
GPU is pretty much the only real upgrade option here. For 1920x1200 60Hz a higher end GPU is often kind of wasted, but you could settle for something like a GTX1060 or GTX1070(ti?). Could also add another, larger (newer, faster) SSD to actually fit your games in, leave the old one for your OS. Replacing the ram with faster 16 gig kit is also a possibility, minor effect but helps at least a little in PUBG. OC your CPU if it isn't already, that is what the K moniker CPUs are made for and you already have a good cooler on it.

Those same GPU's give them the ability to upgrade a monitor later... going with a lower GPU because they "only play @ 1080p" will force them into needing a better GPU later just to get a better screen.

Over 95% of the market still uses 1080p -or less-

The odds are extremely high that any given person is using a panel that runs above 60hz is extremely unlikely.

GTX1070ti with a cheap 1080p 144Hz monitor would fit into the budget. If high refresh rate is not your thing, upgrading to 1440p 60Hz is also an option. Or you could have both high refresh rate and 1440p, but that'll cost ya.

    GTX1070ti
    Cheap-o 144Hz monitor

On top of which you could choose to swap out the ram to a faster, larger kit and/or add a larger SSD.

Over 95% of the market is not building gaming PCs. Majority are either laptops or prebuilt business/home computers. That data not really relevant when discussing hobbyist/enthusiast users.

I hope you are not using steam hardware survey as your source. I have one gaming capable PC and 3 laptops. All of them have steam installed. 3 out of my 4 systems are contributing shit hardware statistics. Also majority of steam hardware survey data comes from china, probably pushes the average system specs down quite a bit.
