Gets my vote.
I really don't understand why anyone would be against this, especially if it's implemented like in FFXIV where the reward is for a total subscribed time and not "stay subscribed for a specific time frame."
I totally understand the animosity towards the idea of staying subscribed for a specific time frame from X to Y date, that's stupid.
Punishing people for leaving doesn't make for a great "loyalty program" imo. I've played a helluva lot of XIV so I've seen both incarnations of their Veteran Rewards system. The way they have it is nice, it's just based off of number of days subscribed. They don't force you to be subbed the *ENTIRE* time, forever screwing you out of year long rewards if something happens like your house gets burned down in California and you can't pay for a sub for that month...
Rewards for being subscribed are perfectly fine. Being knocked out of contention for the 'ultimate reward' in that system because circumstances outside of your control prevent you from being subscribed the entire time, are not. I'm already pissed off enough that I missed out on the Legendary Cloak and the Legendary Ring (from MoP and WoD) because I had to take a forced break during each of those expansions and didn't get back in time before they removed the quest chains... We don't need any more of that going around. "Forcing" players to stay subscribed could create a huge backlash, in addition to getting people burned out on the game itself and not having fun anymore. They already had issues with the 'forced' 1 year duration for the D3 Annual Pass.. I don't think they'll be trying to copy that anytime soon, which is what OP's original proposted ideas would be like.
Hard to say no to free stuff, make it happen OP
IF blizz had any sense they would do this for the long droughts we suffer at the end of xpacs.
We all know Antorus is gonna last at least another 7 months so the carrot of a free mount and other goodies would make perfect financial sense and we all know us mount collectors and pet collectors will stay subbed just to get them.
I must say iam shocked that iam in full agreement with a Jaylock thread!!
I like the GW2 system, you get small recurring rewards for logging in (a small bag of mats, small amount of currency, a buff item, book that grants 1 level to an alt etc., 1 box per day per account, so no milking alts for extras) and then you also get their "birthday" system where each character gets a "birthday gift" every year passing after it was created, with increased rewards as more time passed.
I'm not saying copy paste that system, but could be a basis for inspiration.
Unfortunately WOW playerbase is mostly "cyclical" and cries rivers whenever long term player has any advantage over them. For example table missions in WOD and even in Legion can be considered loyalty rewards: you log in, do few easy clicks, get free reward. Then there are people who come at the end of expansion and petition for "economy reset" because they can't stand others have gold while they don't.
Don't even let me started on expansion exclusive rewards like MOP CM transmog sets, or time limited promotions like Horde chopper. The stream of recurring complaint threads "why I can't get this anymore, this isn't fair" never dries up.
I would like that, because I like seeing whiners being pressured and "forced" into something, and crying about it like little babies.
Idiotic answer, but i will try again.
By your logic EVERYTHING i mentioned is like Casino. IT'S OBVIOUS that a fidelity premium will never match what you actually spend in a (again) Supermarket, Laundry, Carwash, Fast Foods, Restaurant, Jewerly and so on.
But or you live under a rock, or you are a blind Blizzard/WoW hater, or a Jaylock hater, or just a word i can't tell here.
They should give 1m gold to people who have been playing for 10 years and above
Tbh f2p games have little benefit from "daily rewards" because you don't need to pay a sub to collect these rewards. F2p games usually try to get you to spend in the shop, through sales, promotions or just sheer inconvenience of f2p baseline experience you'd "want" to buy upgrades or premium. For example SWTOR is extremely restrictive in pure f2p edition, but has rewards for paying sub (each month of sub gives you free cash shop tokens).
So since wow has sub model, daily / monthly rewards would reward people who are giving Blizzard money through subs, and maybe coerce a few to stay subbed a month longer (much better way than let's say stretching lfr over 2,5 months). As long as the reward is moderate, so it doesn't cause a shitstorm that Blizzard is trying to chain people to subs and they're "forced" to stay subbed.
