It is Nature damage, and do not break BS. Try to use *only* BS for mitigating physical attacks, i.e. Illysanna's http://www.wowhead.com/spell=197418/vengeful-shear
Has nothing to do with nature or physical damage. Molten Crash is an AM Check. If you have a) an active Blood Shield or b) the recently used Death Strike Buff from Deathstrike or Marrowrend you wont be knocked.

As nnyco has stated Blood Shield was always our AM. Iirc the "recently used DS" Buff was introduced back in WoD during HFC because it was not uncommon that Blood Shields were eaten up right before the AM check happened so you were screwed quite often.

    As you can see here:

Hit the check Box for Warrior or Guardian. Shield Block and Ironfur will prevent the Knockback although its nature Damage

If damage is physical, BS can be eaten by skill that should be checked, like Illysanna's shear. And if internal check actually made after hit - failed AM check will be triggered. So it differs

No AM check ability triggers after the hit, so this point is irrelevant. if BS is up when the ability goes off, AM counts, whether or not BS is fully consumed by the hit.

    See PinDrops answer.

The only Situation where it matters if an attack is fully absorbed are Magical Debuffs with AMS, but that has nothing to do with AM Checks
