Why is the Horde more of an Alliance than the actual Alliance?

I'll gladly shed some light on this as a big Hordie fanboy that I am.

Horde races share many things together, values of honor, respecting their ancestors and elders and the need for mutual survival they're also allies but that's less important betwenn orcs trolls and tauren, and more so the truth when the Horde joined with the Forsaken and eventually Blood Elves after Sylvanas begged Thrall to let them In.

The Forsaken and Blood Elves are In It only for mutual benefit of protection, they share very little with the orcs trolls and tauren, hell Sylvanas doesn't care for any of them, she just wants to make the Forsaken Invincible and will use the original horde races as cannon fodder.

While the Alliance, Is In It not for mostly having common grounds, but for mutual protection, shared religious views In the light being one of the few common things. But otherwise they seem barely allied, I'd love to see them band together and strong like the Rebels would VS the Empire In Star Wars but no.

And lastly, Alliance works In the same way the Stormwind Kingdom does, Heredetory Monarchy which as we know from history, Isn't actually very good (But then this is a fantasy so whatever) but still, Anduin got the role cause he was the son Varian not cause he's actually the best fit for the role, as opposed to the proper more sensible Horde way of whoever Is the strongest Is the leader defacto.. well kinda.

Sylvanas I don't think -is- the strongest, but when the old Warchief names a succesor (It's not needed to be their child) It is respected so that's why most bowed to Sylvanas from respect to Vol'jin. Even though I'm sure someone like Saurfang would fit the role more, but then everyones such a fanboy towards Sylvanas, so she got the role, they tailored the story for her to have the spotlight and not for the most sensible one to lead the Horde, like an orc who was In 4 great wars and has the military strategy of Napoleon.

Ofcourse Saurfang can still just declare Mak'gora on her, and she knows that very well, and either she'll have to cheat and show her true face to the Horde, try to defeat him head on with nothing but her basic weapons and clothing... or refuse and loose respect as a Warchief and get dethroned anyway.

In the end, the Horde way of leadership works better, even though we have a fancy pantsy elf leading us... still more experienced than Anduin.

Only one of those can fall to your definition and its a stretch to do so.Because Varian did learn things from the NIght elfs before.

They're both different types of alliances.

The Horde is a volatile collection of tribes who under different circumstances may have been enemies looking for common protection against an uncaring and aggressive world.

The Alliance is your standard fantasy Alliance. In any other story they're the defacto good guys. They're significantly more stable than the Horde and there's a higher sense of unity among them.

Beyond that I think you guys are placing a bit too much emphasis on Anduin's role in the Alliance. I don't think Blizzard has really outlined his ascension so for now it's appropriate to just assume he's in the "High King" role by virtue of being Varian's legacy. His inexperience is irrelevant to the entire topic because his most important quality would be the willingness to listen to others, and in that respect he has deep resources to tap in the leaders around him. He's also not a sheltered character and has been written to understand the weight placed on him by others. He's far from a "spoiled brat."

Royalty isn't voted on. Someone takes it and declares they are royal, then it is handed down through the blood line.

The Alliance doesnt have to try and stay together, fight together, and take decisions together. For the most part.

While the Horde is as you say, an actual alliance.....of nessessity.
Pure survival, and very little common ideals.
A bunch of misfits trying to get along, because no one else would accept them.
And why would they? Apart from the Tauren, the Horde have mostly negative cultural traits, and most races are highly unstable.

Also, what is up with you posting dozens of posts daily, about the "great horde / lame alliance"? remember its just a game.

Hmm I watched the cinematics and it seemed like Genn genuinely wanted to save Varian and was sad he sacrificed himself meanwhile Vol'jin got stabbed and Sylvanas was like damnit I have to save his ass I guess and how do you think other horde member would feel knowing shes spends resources trying to enslave Valkyre for her own purpose I don't think Thrall and friends would approve.

And like the other guy said stop trying to make fetch happen.

The horde had Garrosh though. Most of the turmoil within the horde of like 4 expansions boiled down to Garrosh being Garrosh. The closest thing we ever had was early, douchier Varian.

I will say though in your favor I am far more interested in seeing how the horde leaders interact/develop in BfA than the alliance. Their history of turmoil and chaos at the hands of Garrosh's leadership has caused leaders like Lor'themar, Vol'jin, Thrall and Sylvanaas to stand up for themselves and assert them more visibly as interesting characters. (come on, zombie Vol'jin, make it happen!)
