If your 5 year old child weighs 200 pounds, and has no clue about their situation, thats *YOUR* fault as a parent.

Its perfectly acceptable to teach your child that if they see someone bleeding on the street after being hit by a car that they be in need of medical attention.

It'd teach them that doing so makes them insensitive, hateful, and doing so only makes others feel like crap and accomplishes nothing. I couldn't stand having a kid who did nothing but post about how much better their country was then or trying to degrade others simple by how they perceive them.

I wonder what would make a parent raise such a shallow child.

Sounds to me like the fat kids want more than 1, or are allowed to get their own cookies. Which really sounds like the problem here.

Just throw some chicken breasts in the oven and cut them up, doesn't take long.

Couldn't it be that fatties' parents use stricter words because the kids are already fat?

Just don't have it in the house at all. Maybe I'm some sort of weird food puritan but I don't buy sweets or garbage food and don't miss it for not doing so. It's important to have a clean food routine.

That doesn't mean I don't *ever* eat a cookie or whatever, it's just a rare treat.

80/20 rule is probably the best rule when it comes to eating, parents can control the 80% of a child's diet well through middle school.

You're welcome, I don't have kids so I have the time to act super judge-y in these threads.

Seriously though parenting is hard work and a pain in the ass, I'm glad I don't have to do it. My cat annoys me enough most days.

Shaming people doesn't change behavior. It doesn't work for smokers either, despite people's claims to the contrary in this thread.

    Interesting.
If you were a parent, how would you stop your kid from becoming obese? Would you take necessary action or would you just let it happen?

I think the key is to get your kid involved in sports. Don't let them waste away being a couch potato.
Are you a parent btw tennis?

Why are you just linking irrelevant shit. Sure peer influence can cause unhealthy eating but research has shown that shaming leads to secretive and emotional eating and social withdrawal.

I avoided dating rotund lasses, and married/mated with a tiny Asian woman therefore genetically predisposing my son not to be obese. Be the change you want to see in the world Tennis.

My oldest is incredibly skinny. I get asked a lot if I'm even feeding her. I'm honestly running into issues with her being extremely picky, on a horrific scale, meaning everything looks gross.

    Example:

I'll make chicken, mashed potatoes, corn (or green beans). She will literally comment everything looks gross or disgusting. She'll sit and cry about it, we try to get her to eat. She'll finally take 2 bites of maybe the chicken and leave the dining room. An hour later, she's crying she's hungry and wants chicken nuggets. We make chicken nuggets, then she whines they are gross because they aren't from like chick-fil-a or something. Like the fuck?

I can't win. Regardless what I cook, it ends up as a scenario like above. I feel like she's practically starving herself to death. We keep offering her options. Chicken is gross (but she wants chick-fil-a?), beef is gross, eggs are gross, salads are gross.... cereal is ok, but no milk in it.. because milk is gross. Everything.. is ... gross. I'm honestly at a loss. We've tried giving her what she wants, not giving her what she wants and we always end up back at the same scenario. Now she complains that her legs hurt, her arms hurt, chest hurts, etc. We've taken her to doctors, had blood tests ran, etc.

I seriously don't know what to do, and I feel like I'm watching my oldest waste away. Our next step is taking her to a hospital and force feeding her through a tube. Not joking about this btw.

Any other parents out there ever go through this and was successful in helping their kiddos find something?

Fat shaming is a good thing. One should not encourage unhealthy lifestyles. By that I mean all of them, so I am partially a hypocrite using that statement, but that's my problem to deal with.

Muscle pain can be related to not getting enough electrolyes in the body which fuel muscles and the heart (potassium/sodium, magnesium/calcium).

See if you can get her to take supplements at least. Note that calcium/magnesium as well as potassium/sodium should be in balance with one another in the body and all four are rarely found in a daily multivitamin, you can get calcium/magnesium supplements though, also be careful of magnesium type as it can cause diarrhea. You can get potassium in a salt form if she won't eat fruits/veggies (lite salt). Also totally unrelated to food but you can get magnesium through epsom salt baths.

If you're getting to the point where you're next step is taking her to the hospital to force-feed her then it sounds to me like she has an eating disorder and you should look into getting her help before she legally becomes an adult, because at that age you won't be able to help her until she is at risk of serious self-harm. Looking into parent support groups for children with eating disorders might be a good idea.

    Good luck.

Thank you!! I will definitely look into the supplements. We already give her a multi-vitamin, but will definitely look into other supplements as well. I also was considering the fact that she may have an eating disorder. I will be consulting my husband when he gets home this evening about that being a possible issue. This whole thing for me is incredibly heart breaking for me. She's only 10, my first kiddo and I feel like I'm failing as a parent. I will definitely take your advice to heart and check into those things.

    Thank you! <3

There are conditions that somehow makes one fat, but if you are not one of them you should be careful with your weight, it´s not fatshaming, it´s staying healthy.
Seeing shows like Superfat vs superskinny and the fat kids always hates vegetables and throws a fit when they´re supposed to eat them and the skinny ones being extremly picky, why on earth did the parents not give them and teach them to eat veggies instead of all the junkfood, teach them to eat the healthy things, and don´t give them smartphones and consoles until they are a certain more mature age...
yes I had a Nintendo 64 from when I was 8 years old, but there wasn´t hours and hours of online gaming as it is today back then, barely anyone was fat when I was a child.
We didn´t need Pokemon go to go outdoors to play with our own imagination and adventorous spirit.
