Not so much the foggy part, which partly comes from all those period dramas set in Victorian London, but it does rain a lot in Britain and not just in Autumn/Winter.
And I lived in the South, which typically has better weather than Oop North where you are from.
Adam, stop trying to blag it, there are many inaccurate stereotypes about Britain, but having shitty weather is not one of them.
I found it amusing that I read this just after a heavy fog passed.
Though I live in Northern Ireland currently where the weather is significantly worse than say, the south of England.
We don't get much of that yellow orb thing.

I do however believe the UK has a tendency towards it. When I was in England some ~10 years ago it was among the most heavy rain I've ever seen personally.

i work outside 5 days a week down here in the south west of england & i can truly say that we definitely get less days of rain, etc than we do sun.
