Believe it's 4 items with master loot. Personal is weird, it's 4 minimum, but you could get more, like 5-7 total.

Think they put in change at end of last expansion/beggining of this one where personal loot will on average drop more items than master loot. But most organised guild grps use master loot still because its still more efficient especially with tier gear.

Master loot drops based on how many people in the raid, and each person contributes 1/5th of an item, so with 20 (unsaved) ppl in raid will drop 4 items.

Tierdrops are weird with masterloot. With 20people on mythic you will always get 4 items, but there is a small chance of getting a 5th. We had multiple occasions with triple token drops and that has been happening for quite some time. I don't know any exact numbers and I think blizzard has never officially said anything about it, but the general rule of 1/5th of an item per person is mostly correct.

Yes, you can get more total loot with personal loot, but you have no control over who gets loot. Your bad players can get BiS titanforged everything and your good players can get artifact power, so your raid's progression is worse off.

Not to mention someone can get a raw ilvl upgrade piece that’s actually terrible for them, so they can’t even trade it.
