easy anti cheat stopping my steam games from working help!?

I'm not 100% sure this is in the right topic but I am having an error that says EAC launch failure.patched windows boot loader detected (3) when trying to load certain steam games
I have a legit copy of windows , bought from a legit shop that built my computer and my windows is up to date and my anti virus isn't the issue from what I understand, does anyone have any tips that don't involve resetting my computer?

Do a rootkit scan.

did that it didn't find anything so I guess that's out of the question lol. might try reinstalling steam first before I do anything drastic
