We've had that here for quite some time and it's extremely handy. You don't have to rush through the store with a ton of other people pushing around. And for people like me who've a difficulty even getting to the store to begin with it's amazing.

As in, being there in person and doing the shopping.

I hate grocery stores / super markets. There are always people standing in the way with their carts, annoying kids walking into everything and incompetent employees behind the register that take forever to scan everything and always seem grumpy.

So yeah, this is a real improvement!

You can even download video games now instead of going and buying a physical CD.

    It's crazy I know.

We had Tesco deliver a month worth of food for us for years now. Only thing we buy ourselves is meat.

You can even make lease agreements when buying new phone over the internet that will get delivered to you. And get a loan over the internet. And order a pizza over the internet and it will get delivered. 21 century is k-k-k-krazy

Safeway tried it in Texas in the early 2000’s with Randall’s/Tom Thumb’s markets. It didn’t really catch on back then. I guess they were ahead of the curved in ther respect.

    Yes, especially if it’s produce.
If is just a few things I live close enough to the market I usually just walk.

    Cheers

This is good. Means there will be less people crowding the grocery stores.

Nothing stops me from going to the store. Originally, I used Peapod because my partner and I didn't own a car (it's $250 a month for parking in our highrise) and since I worked in a nearby office (until we went full time telecommuting) and he went to school a 10 minute walk away, that left us renting hourly cars on the weekends to go buy food. We realized it cost as much to pay Peapod to deliver our groceries as it cost to rent the car for an hour, so why waste our own personal time when someone can come deliver the groceries to us?

Now I own a car again - and pay that fucking parking fee - because my work (previously full time telecommuting) moved to Northbrook and I have to drive 30 miles to the office. Still, though, in the congested streets of downtown Chicago, it's far easier to have Peapod drop off our groceries than it is to get it ourselves. Saves me time and costs nearly the same (I compared receipts). What's not to like?

I still have my Blockbuster card from 2003. I remember having a high-speed VHS rewinder for those tapes before we'd return them to the video store when I was a kid.
Do you live somewhere in the outskirts? It's hard to believe you'd need a car to buy groceries in a big city as chicago.

I don't know. I'd rather be able to pick exactly what I want instead of leaving it up to some miserable worker who will just pick randomly because he's lost his patience and no longer cares and when I get it it'll have a mold spot on it or something. No thanks I'd rather take the 10 minutes to drive down to my local grocery store and pick my own food. At least then I'll know exactly what I'm getting.

We live at the south edge of the loop, close enough that I can walk into downtown in a mere couple of blocks. We use a car - or used to - because we cook all of our own meals and buy our food a week at a time. It's far more groceries than one person can carry at a time, especially when you buy toiletries like paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies.

Peapod is great, they deliver at almost any hour, at almost any day, and so far they've only ever been late twice in years.
