Why are people here anti-immigrant?

I always see Western Europeans complaining about all the migrants flowing to their areas from the Middle East. They tend to be exceptionally hard working, sophisticated, peaceful people and I don't see a good reason for why you would be against them coming to your countries.

No, we're not "completely anti-immigrant". Had it been the case, our societies would have been MUCH better.

The more migrants from non-Europeans nations in school, the worse the grades. The worse the bullying. The worse the drain on resources (extra education for teachers, longer hours, etc). The more of them in a neighbourhood, the worse the social cohesion. Worse crime rate (a LOT worse crime rate). The more migrants, the worse a society in every aspect. Literally. Some areas look like the Middle East. People are rude, they just feel like robots and only connect to each other. It's like as a European, one is alien in the areas where migrants settle.

You are free to importing immigrants all you want, what I do wonder is why some are trying to push those onto others. I don't want any immigrants on my lawn - I seen enough of those and their effect on neighborhoods for a lifetime - deal with it.

Problem is integration - if country barely can support its own citizens, it's seriously vicious to everyone to try and pile some aliens on top of that.

Stupid? Europe is what it is due to Middle Eastern scientists and all that, OBVIOUSLY!

Most people are not anti-immigrant, they are anti-unlimited immigration. Bringing in people who can fulfill the needs of society (regardless of if it is a doctor, a farmhand, or anything in between) is a huge boon. Conversely, bringing in more people than needed for the positions leads to lower wages and unemployment. Also there is a fairly large percentage of immigrants (legal, illegal, refuge, etc) whom won't/can't work and this causes a drain on the countries resources. Finally despite the needs for filling vacant jobs, there are cultural issues. Some cultures are simply not very compatible. A country can only take in a relatively small number of people from a "noncompatible" culture, whom aren't enthusiastic about abandoning parts of their original culture, before you end up with some serious issues.

Many people want their world black and white, and they want to blame problems on "them" (aka tribalism).

Rather than digging into the complexities of the issue (why it's happening, what is the real impact, what can be done to reduce the source of the problem), many loves the simplistic talking points about "them" being the problem. If only "them" weren't here, everything would be awesome. You have problems because of "them", not because of your own issues.

So demagogues like Trump and Fox News talking heads provide that highly simplistic, black-and-white point of view. Immigrants bad! Minorities bad! White people good! And the simpletons lap it up.

This has been a problem for the ages where mob mentality gets stoked because of their desire for simple, easy, and, invariably, wrong answers.
