    (Music) Tool (band) Discussion Thread

I searched the forums using the search feature and went 5 pages and didn't find a Tool thread, which surprises me greatly, so If I am in error please redirect me to it.

My favorite band is Tool. From Maynard James Keenans angelic vocals, to Justin Chancellor's guttural bass tugs, to Danney Carey's seemingly 8 armed performance solos, to Adam Jones otherworldly riffs, the band is almost perfect in my eyes.

Their albums all have a special place in my heart, partly due to each corresponding to a particular point in my life, but my favorite album of theirs to date is probably 10,000 Days.

Vicarious, Jambi, The Pot, Wings for Marie Pt 1 and 2, Right in Two, Rosetta Stoned, the album is jam packed with hard hitters and I can't imagine a better album.

Other amazing songs by Tool that I love are Sober, Bottom, Undertow, Ænima, Pushit, Third Eye, Schism, Lateralus, Parabol+Parabola, and Ticks and Leeches.

Do you guys like Tool? What are your favorite albums, songs, or live performances?

Tool is a great band. I have seen them live 3 different times on the Aenima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days tours. Pretty much have all the CDs and am looking forward to the new album this month. I just wish they would let the digital age reach them so I didn't have to still carry those 6 soon to be 7 CDs in my car still.

Good news, then, they are going digital tomorrow.

Anyways, yes, they are a great band. Got into them in large part from a friend in around 2007. Really looking forward to the new album later this month. Never seen them live but I would like to do so this year if they come around my area.

Good news for you, as Tool officially ends their anti streaming blockage TOMORROW on 8/2, in anticipation for their new album on the 30th of this month. They're releasing all their music on Spotify! I am over the moon about this.

One of the joys of getting old. You don't realize these things until the last minute and are pleasantly surprised and rewarded all at once.

I don't think you understand how joyful I am to be able to listen to Tool like that in that fashion, being able to have them on Spotify and not having to youtube them every time I want to rock out at the gym. Ugh. Gonna be so nice. I'm basically 100% digital with my music, just how I am, and this is a godsend.

I love this un fucking real moment when Maynard James Keenan wrestles down a fan that jumps on stage, and then proceeds to continue singing for 10 minutes while literally riding on top of him like a horse for the entire rendition of Pushit live. It's..it's just beautiful.

Tool was most relevant before this site was even around, that's why you can't find a thread on them. I loved them in high school, and I'm 38 now. I probably haven't listened to them since the mid-00s. Didn't Maynard go to found A Perfect Circle? Is Tool back together?

Maynard is part of A Perfect Circle and Puscifer as well, but Tool never broke up or anything. They just had a long hiatus.

This. Their last album was 10,000 days 13 years ago. Now they're releasing an album on Aug 30th. Maynard has been very active since their hiatus began and has multiple groups as well as manages his own vineyard and winery.

There are a couple of new songs on youtube that they played live and someone cleaned them up. Invincible is one but I can't remember the other.

edit: Totally missed the new song that was posted earlier!

They've been touring the last year, a lot. You can youtube many many 2019 performance and they still sound amazing. They play 3 songs from their new album; Fear Inoculum, Invincible, and Descending. It'd be pretty cool if they went on a world tour.

Anyone else jamming out on Spotify to Tool? I'm so glad they're digital now. It's so nice. I have basically their entire discography saved into my playlist, lol. Them, along with APC.

Gotta say I'm a little pissed at myself for not getting a pre-order in earlier for a physical copy, did not suspect them selling out everywhere soo fast. Now I'll have to buy it digital on release date and wait to buy a physical copy later on, which saddens me because the packaging is usually just as good as the albums themselves.
