as in not the official announcement post with launch date. They are making it sound like classic rift when it's not just to scam people to make a quick milking on a dying MMO with a playerbase of 500 people

To be fair Trove isn't a bad game. I actually think it's a fun little game and a decent time killer.

My only issues are that it has horrid FPS issues on PS4 sometimes and the cash shop is bloated. And they use that marketing gimmick of "10 million players" like FF14 or GW2 does. It's all fine and dandy saying 10 million people played your game but that most certainly isn't active player numbers.

Not to be pedantic or go too far off-topic or anything but it's actually 15 million players and last time i checked you can't run X-Box or Playstation through Steam, but hey, i could be wrong, it hasn't been launched in Japan yet so the numbers might go higher.

Pristine isn't a horrible idea, but its not a replacement for classic servers. And the dev time would be stupid low to do pristine servers. I'm guessing it never happened because they predicted not enough people would be interested.

I have to disagree personally. I'm not fond of a pristine server idea.

This is essentially what this is. In fact it's not even pristine. It's just some warped abomination that even the playerbase doesn't want. Says a lot when older players aren't going to return. Which is good. Maybe Trion will actually try and do an older server rather than lie about why they can't get one working.

The more people speaking out against this the better personally. It's not classic, it's not what was asked for, their "statistics" are more than likely just the hardcore shills/fans that they talk to at PAX and so on.

As I said just wait for WoW classic. You know you will be getting what you asked for with that and a decent product to boot. Better to wait for a product going to be of decent quality than throw money on a rushed one that not even older players want to come back for. Patience is rewarded and all that basically.

Agreed, the current game experience is terrible. Why would I pay more money for the same experience just capped at level 50?

I will happily admit my critique is a bit over the top sometimes. But well if you don't at least try to have some punch in your critique then what is the point of being critical imo?

The bulk of THOSE players actually play the game or at least have it installed. Neither applies to him. All he does is come in the Rift section and bitch about anything that is brought up. He calls it constructive criticism and all kinds of BS but its just bitching and nothing more.

That was my thought, too. So this is the "Classic" Version of a game that started ripping off / copying as much as it could from another "Classic" game?

But oh well, I guess now people can say Blizzard is dragging the feet because Rift does it quicker.

I'd rather them drag their feet and deliver a product that is polished/people want.

Nobody wanted this abomination. Not even older players. And yes forgive me for sounding like I'm trying to speak for people here but the general consensus I got from reading around was that people wanted Classic. Not current client downgraded using modern soul trees and an already buggy client.

The "community ambassador" thing at Trion is just a glorified "gold star" badge in my opinion.

That's not a criticism of him personally just how poorly the program is handled in general. But it's never going to get revamped sadly.

I've seen CM/MVP programs with actual moderation and hell in other games I know MVP posters who are critical. And actually relay issues to the CMS who ofc then pass it on to the devs of said games.

Yes it was initially a sub game. And very worth the monthly fee imo.

The prime server actually requires the patron sub.

Ironic isn't it. The only thing classic about it is that it requires the sub.

This is a re-release of an apparent Old version of the game people DID play. Meaning they can critique it without needing to have played the game currently.

Yep. And as someone who did it's already a no for me because I can't play the old soul trees. Plus no EU server is a dealbreaker.

There was this insane Cleric build that did a shit load of dps and healing but I can't for the life of me remember it's name. Would have given that a try but sadly I can't. I was a Chloromancer back then because the ebb and flow of the class was brilliant.

God now I want to know what name that Cleric build is so I can find it.

The guy is like 99% a trion employee. Only posts in rift sub, account created during head start, only started posting after the first expansion launched.

Got a email about this, was semi interested. Knowing its not full classic kind of sucks, but was on the fence of still wanting to check it out. But knowing slipmat is still in this sub posting about rift and not interacting with anything else on this site threw me off 100%.

The guy never actually talks about the gameplay of rift. He is only posting updates from the main forums, or different promotions and defending what ever decision Trion does with rift. Even in threads where people ask "thinking of returning" he doesn't interact with the OPs about how he feels, he only defends the server population against other posters.

Oh actually I was wrong that he only posts in the rift sub reddit. He was defending trove/archage in a archage thread.

Was it the Duracell Build? I used to play Shaman/Druid/Inq and absolutely crush people.
