And where's the outrage? This'll go to a federal court and will be settled by private arbitration and everyone will forget about it. Trump can't be damaged, he's gone through things that would've meant the end of anyone else their political career.

I've never ever seen someone as untouchable as Trump. Only the most apparent criminal misconduct will bring him down.

I don't get it. Isn't the US the country of Christian family values? If the Belgian PM was caught having an affair with a porn star after his wife gave birth to his son, he'd be out. There's no way he'd be able to hold his position as the most important political figure of the country.

Chrisitan family values don't apply to republicans. Only to their opponents.

*cough*bullshit*cough* Months, maybe. I guarantee she got money out of it.

    The republicans are... weird.

They're not really a group. They're a coalition of people that care very little about anything but their single issue. So within this group you have:

    - Anti-abortion
    - Religious values (separate from anti-abortion because that's not necessarily religious; this is more things like anti-gay, anti-non christian holidays, family values [ie, no cheating on wife, live by the bible, daughters exist to serve future husbands])
    - Gun rights
    - Government issues (generally lower taxes / smaller government)
    - Anti-liberal

These groups sometimes have overlap, but for the most part people within them are hyper-concentrated on ONE issue that they will not get with dems, so they band with WHOEVER they can to prevent "the liberals" from destroying their issue. Which means if there's a democrat in office that gets a blowjob the republicans will rile up their base that hates adultery to a frenzy, if a democrat mentions gun control they'll rile up THAT portion, and so on. But if it's an Republican doing it, they're not going to rile up their base against their coalition, so it'll largely go unchallenged as democrats generally don't care given two consenting adults, so long as neither are making huge stinks about adultery being the worst thing ever. Which means those "christian values" don't matter unless they're used to try to vote someone out.

We're all as stunned as you. It seems like events that would normally take down another politician happen to Trump daily, and he is allowed to just shrug them off. The GOP is as complicit as possible in not screaming for his impeachment.

While the investigation into Trump's multitude of misdeeds (Obstruction, Money Laundering, Election Rules Violation, Emolument Clause, etc) continues to steadily move forward, there is real fear that Trump will just fire the Special Prosecutor, cry "witch hunt" some more, and continue on.

If that happens, we're looking at a very dark and sinister future for the U.S. as well as the world.

I mean, it's not like the Pope has specifically said men, who pay women for sex, are sick.

    Oh wait.

I actually disagree with that. I have no moral issues with prostitution as long as it is consensual, in fact I think it should be legal. Obviously forced prostitution is a different animal altogether.

But I also believe in calling a spade a spade. Trump paid a hooker for sex while his wife was pregnant.

Not necessarily! Saw a bit on this over the weekend. In order for a suit to get sent to federal court, the damages must be over $75,000. But the NDA was $130,000 you say! And Trump wants $20,000,000 you say!

That's true, but this actual lawsuit, brought by Stormy's lawyer, seeks no damages. All this lawsuit is wanting the judge to proclaim is that the NDA is not valid.

Trump may still bring his own lawsuit, claiming damages, in federal court... but THIS case is not about money, and may be tough to get sent there.

With the amount of people that have offered to pay any penalties, she'll be fine.

    Don't you worry.

Are you fact-immune as well? The very first day her lawyers had lined up offers from over a dozen people willing to individually pay the 1 million per disclosure threat.

You think they haven't lined up more in the interim before throwing the gauntlet with the lawsuit? Give your damn head a shake.

They are, when it comes to laughing at Trump's hypocrisy and lies on live television I guess.

You didn't vote for Trump and yet you defend him constantly?

Her story could easily be bought for that much by anyone and with the NDA not being signed it's doubtful it would be enforced.

Seems the best thread for it.

Ex-Playboy model who alleges affair with Trump: He said I was 'beautiful' like Ivanka

A former Playboy model who alleges that she had an affair with President Trump

    DONALD JOHN TRUMP
House expected to vote on omnibus Thursday afternoon
House passes 'right to try' drug bill
Spending bill rejects Trump’s proposed EPA cut
    MORE
said that Trump told her she was “beautiful” like his daughter Ivanka.

“Did he ever compare you to any of his kids?” CNN host Anderson Cooper asked Karen McDougal during an interview on Thursday night.

“You know, he’s very proud of Ivanka as he should be,” McDougal replied. “She’s a brilliant woman, she’s beautiful, she’s — you know, that’s his daughter and he should be proud of her.”

“He said I was beautiful like her and, you know, ‘you’re a smart girl’ and there wasn’t a lot of comparing but there was some, yeah. I heard a lot about her,” she continued.

McDougal says that she had an affair with Trump during his marriage to first lady Melania Trump.
Now, let's assume this claim is false. (If it's true, it speaks for itself) It looks like Trump's being baited with the intent to cause a reaction, and they're hitting him where they think it'll hit a nerve. Or, they're trying to drive wedges between Trump and his family -- already going through a divorce -- by threatening Trump's relationship with both Melania and Ivanka.
