Ask any Resto / Ele Shaman, roots, stunts and shit always land right after you hit Gust of wind.

It basically was that way, until the warrior crybabies got it changed:

It was the "solution" for the "charge stun" issue, to go straight down when stunned, so maybe the same game mechanic is now applied for the goblin glider situation too.

I blind people all the time that try to escape via glider. Getting CC'd is unlikely unless the person predicts you're going to use the glider or gets lucky.
