The fault may lie with Frostbolt itself. Looking at the damage breakdown at, say, a greater invasion boss, the % of damage that frostbolt contributes is miniscule. Frost is about procs and icicles.
If you want to punch a nuke into their face, I'm surprised at how effective arcane can be. If you can manage the charges well in the open world, it will serve you well and you will hit hard.

What I did when I leveled, since I did do it as frost, was doing as large pulls as possible. Orb, Blizzard and spam lances. That or shatter combos.

Defence of Nahom has been nerfed. I was getting 8xp a kill. Half the time I got nothing. Sigh.

    One or two hits? Riiight.
    Stop using just frost bolt.

At ~50, Hidden Satyr hits for around 2000. So just the two procs and you're already 1/3 of the way. If frost mages have zero frontloaded spells, then you made a terrible choice by leveling it, but considering I saw one level 60 Frost Mage pulling around 6k DPS on dungeons, you might just be doing something wrong either with how you play or with your talent choices.

All the classes I leveled since 7.3.5 hit have one or two abilities that just rip more than half of the mobs health in one go. If that crits, it's usually a one-hit-kill. The classes I have leveled where Warrior (Arms proved superior to fury due to how good it is at killing and moving on), Hunter (despite disliking the spec, Survival was hands down the best leveling spec - flanking strike alone takes nearly 80% of a mob's health) and Monk (Fists of Fury. Enough said.). If frost mages aren't working, try fire or even arcane, and do check your talent choices. Usually the choices you'd make for raids are not the choices you make for leveling, since for raids you want higher DPS, while for leveling you just want more frontloaded damage.

At level 50 you should be doing about 5k DPS, which translates to killing a 9k HP mob in about 2 seconds, which is about 2 GCDs.

Get a job, work for X hours, pay money, get max level. Value for X depends on employment but even at entry level it's likely to be atleast 4-8 times faster and probably more enjoyable. Whether or not you maintain the job after completion of leveling is up to you.

I think it might be worth reading the original question as: "What is the fastest way to level up by playing the game?".

There's obviously some enjoyment to be had from playing the game in the most optimal manner. Whereas work is....work. I'd say most people just don't enjoy their job, and only do it because they have to. Whereas playing wow is perceived as "fun", or at least more entertaining than work.

So yeah, while it's technically faster to just buy a boost, that's not really what people are looking for with these kinds of threads.

Yeah and you can throw heritage armor out the window too

What are the chances for BFA prepatch of there being something like invasions in the legion prepatch that boosted leveling.

About a 6. I don't know the range of the scale, but the answer is definitely a 6.
(in short, we don't know. It was popular, it drove a lot of people out into the world, and got everyone prepared. But was it too convenient for Blizzard?)

    Confirmed 0.

There are no plans to have events that boost leveling experience in the pre-expansion patch such as the demon invasions.
Gonna just save my tokens for release.

I stand by it being a six. Maybe on a scale of 0-0, but still!
I think the theme of this expansion would have lent itself to interesting such events; mini-warfront or whatnot.

What about just questing in the zones you like most?

You know, to have fun with the game.
What if you have done those zones a dozen times, obtained 'Loremaster' just for the heck of it 4 expansions ago, and are simply sick of 14 y.o. quests in a 2018 game?

How are dungeons + questing from 100 to 110, i mean, are dungeons worth it or should I just quest right away?

I think spamming dungeons for levelling died around Cata, the only "dungeon levelling" I see is being boosted either by a twink or by a max level character. 101 twinks still sell dungeon boosting so I'd assume it's viable. Now if you mean random queuing and doing dungeon the normal slow way... I don't think it's worth the effort.

Tbh we have last few weeks of invasion group finder abuse, since group finder is getting nerfed for WQ in 8.0, make sure to use that.

Other than that, I have my personal favourite spots to clean quests in between invasions, not sure if anyone confirmed whether these are good, but for me they're very compacted big chunks of xp.
    - bradensbrook entry quest part
    - south of valsharah with lunarwings / bonus objective
    - nesingwary camp in highmountain
    - azsuna north eastern demon camp

Kinda depends where invasion led me, if I'm in the area might as well chip away at those hubs.

From zone questing my personal experience is Valsharah > Highmountain (ofc with flying) > Azsuna, Stormheim sucks, too much RP and no idea if they finally fixed the bugs in the entry scenario, never bothered again since you never need all the zones. Azsuna is OK early on but the whole Runas escorting got old quickly after many alts. Valsharah feels great with lots of bonus objectives and most quest hubs having multiple quests and being fairly linear. Even the whole Tyrande escort has stuff to do along the way so it's fine. Highmountain was annoying before flight, now you can easily move from hub to hub, just don't bother with grandma and the murloc camp (too far away).

P.S. I got 20 chars at 110 atm, not sure if that's a lot or no (some people have more than an account worth of maxed alts), majority of these levelled through invasions and sending xp missions on the order hall table, and the few select camps I like to do. Earlier in the expac I also prioritized class campaign, because I needed them followers to slave drive into goldmaking. Atm there isn't enough time to produce any more mission table gold mules, so class campaign lost its worth to me, I pushed last 3 chars neglecting the campaign altogether except initial quests to get artifact, order hall and the research (so I get +3 slaves to give me daily 500 honour for my account wide prestige in 8.0).

Dungeons + questing from 100 to 110 are fine from my perspective. Yes, there are faster ways to level, but the grind to 110 is pretty quick in comparison to other phases (e.g., 60 to 80).

So I'm hearing that the Legacy mode for old raids is screwing up the trash runs in Kara. Not sure if that will get corrected in the live patch, or if it's intended. Can someone who's actually playing at launch test this for us so I can update the guide? I won't be playing right away, instead waiting until 8.1 or so.

  17. #217
They have been tweaking with legacy mode during the entire process. In the alpha, I simply could not solo BWD. In the early beta, same thing. When character copy opened up, I could do it, but it took a long time. It wasn't dangerous, per se, but my damage wasn't scaled up, just my survivability. (I preferred this iteration, because it felt like when I came back in wod and did the raids).
I tested it earlier today and I killed the bosses in seconds again (ie, snooze fest) meaning I won't be soloing old raids at all this expansion.
This was all done on 110 Warlocks fwiw.
I will go to Kara with my 80 rogue in an hour or so to see how it is on the beta. It's not 73, but it's the closest I got.

    Yea, okay.
I had to blow Evasion to be able to handle a double pack of Spectral Horses, even at level 80, I imagine it would not be possible at level 74 et al. I would say Myth Confirmed.

Give it another try on Tuesday after patch 8.0 goes live. Blizzard says they're always a couple of builds ahead of beta/ptr on their own internal server. So maybe they'll have rebalanced it for live.

I am honestly finding 60-80 more enjoyable than 80-90 sure 80-90 is fast with dungeons but pandaria leveling gets kind of boring after a while :P.

    Wednesday. I'm EU.
(but our one advantage over the US, to have the expansion 6 hours before them was so unfair. I'm not bitter)
