    Physically, where can WoW go next?

    I've been wondering this for a while.

    It's pretty clear that we're running out of land on Azeroth to stage new expansions. At the same time, it's clear Blizzard has no intention of "ending" the game any time soon. So, where do you think we could go next? We just got back from outer space, we've been to alternate timelines, explored the farthest corners of Azeroth, we went to outer space another time (Outland), so what's next?

    Personally,I wouldn't mind revisiting some old locations, though I doubt the fanbase would approve of recycling old zones. I've always hated how WoW's storytelling is constrained by linear progression. Once we "finish" a continent, it's story more or less stops, leaving tons of wasted potential in its wake.

    Take Northrend for example: homeland of the dragons, the ruins of two long-dead empires, the headquarters of the Titans on Azeroth, and a prime spot for colonization now that The Scourge has been dealt with. I feel like there's so much more we could be doing here, but the zone is locked at level 70-80, with no reason to ever go back. I'd love to see an expansion focus on Azjol-Nerub, or the dragonflights, or even a continuation of the Horde-Alliance war.

    So what do you guys think? Where can (or should) future expansions take us? Let me know your ideas.
    Some people really like flavor. Occasionally subsisting on nutrient paste just doesn't feel the same as eating a steak. I get that flavor isn't for everyone, but I doubt removing all cosmetic indicators from the game would be appealing either. Nobody want to log in, queue to fight modestly sized blue checked box boss #7, initiate combat using an attack sequence of abilities 1-7 with a 13 beat repeat coda intermittently, and collect item level 630 slot 7 gear either.

    - Underground of Northrend;
    - New continents on Azeroth;
    - Maybe a newly-discovered shard of our Draenor that survived like Outland but was hidden;
    - Other planets around the stars;
    - Nathreza, which could be the main hub of the remaining demons inside the Twisting Nether;
    - Under the sea near the Maelstrom, visiting the Makrura city and stuff;
    - If the Void actually got matter inside, we could even visit it and discover how Old Gods are made! What if it's like Phaaze from Metroid Prime - a living planet-sized Old God sprowting seedlings that travel the Great Dark to find a planet to corrupt?
    - Entirelly new Realms, dimensions and/or planes!

    Those are my guesses. Right after Battle for Azeroth I would really like to keep the scale a little lower than Legion and visit. let's say, an entirelly new continent on Azeroth - what if we go to the land where the Arcadian War Turtle was born?

    There's a possibility of there being another side of azeroth. But we've yet to get a more clear, proper response to that.
    There's also the possibility of places underground and underwater, or going to other realms/planes bound to Azeroth. Also, one thing I don't think I've seen suggested before, would be the two moons.

    Didn't blizzard employees say there is a back side to Azeroth? The reason no one has ever bothered to sail West of Kalimdor or East out of Eastern Kingdoms was because ships were never seen again.

    There are recent in-game models of globes that show there is no other side. So everything's kind of a weird jumble on this topic.

    Warcraft Chronicle has shown us the map of Azeroth before The Sundering though, right? It's just Kalimdor, and that broke off into everything we've seen so far. I don't think there's "another side" to Azeroth after all.

    Basically what the Chozo said, plenty of places they could come up with, retcon or otherwise.

    Kalimdor was shown to be the only super continent at the time so that leaves things open to say there were smaller landmasses outside of Kalimdor.

    It also says in volume 1, on page 29, that Y'Shaarj landed "in the center of Azeroth's largest continent" - meaning that there were (are) other continents in primordial Azeroth's time, with which to compare ancient Kalimdor to be the "largest."
    3 hints to surviving MMO-C forums:
    1.) If you have an opinion, someone will say that it is wrong
    2.) If you have a source, there will be people who refuse to believe it
    3.) If you use logic, it will be largely ignored
    btw: Spires of Arak = Arakkoa.

    I hope they keep the scale of the threats down too. Legion was a little too much. I mean we have spaceships now but still don't know what's beyond EK and Kalimdor? ok ...

    Hmmm, good point!

    I actually agree with this. Do you have any ideas? How do they keep the fanbase engaged with smaller conflicts?

    Good stories. Mists is a decent example of that. If the stories are good people will stick around.

    I loved MoP so much. Anyone who hated it cause lolpanda is just a fool in my eyes. That was WoWs strongest and most engaging storyline to me.

    I like the people who continue to site globes as proof that there are no other landmasses on Azeroth. Despite the fact I'm fairly certain it's been stated by Blizzard theyre made by art teams unrelated to game designers , and arent to be taken as proof of anything. And despite globes and maps literally changing every expansion to show more continents or islands.

    Im a firm believer that there is another side to Azeroth. Hidden by the forbidding sea and veiled sea. And they they will, in time, add some new continent to discover. Maybe Old God taint has run amuck without our mortal interference? Maybe murlocs have a great marshy empire that will invade us? Who could say, really. But I'm sure something is there. Its just not on the maps, yet.

    And the globes in Ulduar didn't show Pandaria, the Broken Isles, nor Zandalar or Kul'Tiras. It's almost as if they're updated as the world gets updated.

    The fact Blizzard has never come right out and said no tells me that while maybe they don't have exact plans yet they are atleast keeping it open for possibilities. Hell, even if they said no it could be retconned at any time lol

    They'll need to be careful with that one, though. Remember in MoP when every whiner and their dog was screaming "This isn't Warcraft!?!?one"?
    The most difficult thing to do is accept that there is nothing wrong with things you don't like and accept that people can like things you don't.

    Rumor has it that the map has a lot of places still hidden away and, there is something else, the other side of the planet. I've heard that Azeroth is bigger than earth which means there is plenty they can do. Blizz has said that they will keep coming with content for as long as there are fans who play wow. So, anything is possible and maybe we will even get to explore OTHER worlds too, which would be interesting to me.

    I would like for them to add in another faction or two, the alliance vs the horde thing is getting dry to me and we need something to shake up the 20+ old trope they've had for so long. I can't wait to see how BFA playes out.
