I'm sorry to say it, but leaving us 6 months in the dark is completely unacceptable..

November, December, January, February, March, April...and soon May.

Yup that's how long we've been waiting for news concerning vanilla wow, and you know what? It's just not something a company usually does:

-Only a few updates here and there to reassure us concerning the progress? Sure, that's fine
-A few hints from them here and there to tell us that we're not being forgotten? Sure, that's also fine
-Absolutely 0 official news about something that hundreds of thousands, if not milions of people, are waiting for? That's just not fucking acceptable.

You don't announce a video game to let people in the dark for so long guys, I can already see some of you jumping at me :"They don't owe you shit" ,"it'll be ready when it's ready", "be patient", "there's no news that's it", but it's bullshit: after half a year, there's bound to be some progress.

Not to mention that they were supposed to communicate with us, to ask us what we really want when it comes to vanilla.

I'm very disappointed by the complete lack of feedback, and I know that a lot of people are in the same boat: this doesn't sound good at all so far.

WoW Left us over 2-3 years in the Dark since it's original announcement in 2001, till 2003-ish for alpha, and 2004 for beta/launch, 2005 for EU launch.

Yes we had some trailers, and screenshots, but none of that really made it 100% in the game as shown, it was very basic snippets, but still more then 100% cinematic "teasers" at least.

6 months on a game that already existed is like nothing.

Also, there's nothing new and fancy in terms of "content" no fancy visual hype to create.

    Beat me to it....

They're recruiting a team and setting it up....there really isn't much to say unless you need a reassuring "We're working on it" every few weeks.

Again: What is there to actually update us on beyond "The team has been hired"? They've mentioned that most of the stuff is redoing old databases and coding to work with modern systems... ain't a ton to really show off for that. The amount of information they have given out is completely understandable. The main issue is that they probably revealed that it is coming out a bit too soon.

Relax and buckle up for a long wait, 'cus there's likely not gonna be a ton of information for several more months.

Stop with the entitlement, they don't owe you shit. Sit back there and be patient.

Also get used to it because it's not coming out before 2020 and it's a game with absolutely nothing new to show, so they basically can't build up hype around it, specially not for 2 years straight.

When they have something to announce...it will be announced.

It will be done when it's done, OP. Don't rush it.

Also, it's a old game being launched again - you have 12-years old footage of it on youtube.

Aside from telling us they're actively working on it, what are you actually asking for? A weekly report? A reddit AMA? Dev Watercooler?

You say this doesn't sound good but you don't really give any reasons why or what you're actually looking for

They probably share some news snippets at either Gamescom or Blizzcon but I think the main focus will remain at WoW BfA and E-Sports, when it comes to 2018 news.

I fully believe they are working on Warcraft 3 remasted hype train first anyway, with it recently getting patches again after years.

    You're getting it...

what more info do you want ?

  12. #12
What do you expect them to give you?

Dev diaries showing how the servers are being built?

You already know the game you're getting... There is no need to preview it. It will be ready when it's ready.

Exactly this. Be glad its even happening. There is a LOT to flesh out. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't announce anything just to keep the interest there until its launch. One wrong feature announced and interest could plummet

imo i think they trying to kill the hype for it for their own benefits, they are trying to sell BFA, there are ppl who may play bfa instead of classic, ppl who lose patience waiting classic and just play bfa

an explanation of why the fuck a game they own its software and did run and know how to run already, they not releasing it yet, any reason that make sense beside the bullshit reason that they 'didn't have the source code' (which the biggest bullshit i ever heard, they still have sc1 code, diablo 1, but wow the biggest franchise they had not?)

What do you want them to say? i feel like you havent been looking for anything, they have spoken about it a fair amount, not alot, but its a fucking 12 year old game what can they talk about "we are going to make this class called warlock, i know right sounds cool, so it farms mobs for hours then uses things it gets from those mobs to give the raid things that heal them, i know, and summon them! they will then cast a spell called shadowbolt to do damage"

what is there to talk about, they have spoken about it, quite abit, we know there will be no big changes, they simply need to figure out what patch to start on, and what to include/not include like "oh hey we added this at the end of vanilla, but it was super good, should we really not add it till later?"

but they literally were hiring for it during blizzcon, they have stated in the recent Q&A that they are mostly done hiring and working on it, but it is still far from complete.

    WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT!?

It is a game that they released 14 years ago. Not much they can say about than "Yeah we're working on it"
Wanna see how it's going to look? Google some vanilla pictures...

    uhh what...

ok 1. they dont keep copies of EVERY SINGLE PATCH AND HOTFIX
    2. bug fixing 12 year old code is VERY, VERY DIFFICULT
    3. getting the 12 year old game to 1. be optimized on new computers. 2. to work with battlenet is alot of work, it was not made with battle net in mind
    4. they still have the diablo 1 and starcraft 1 code, because they are not 12 years old and have been updated for 12 years. the code is not just there for them to copy/paste over, it has been tweaked, updated, and changed over and over and over.

If you're lucky they will have something to show at Blizzcon. In Blizzard fashion we all knew (or should have known) that the announcement was only the beginning and actually seeing the game would probably be a few years in the making as they convert it to their modern platform.

    1. What makes you think that? It's pointless making claims you couldn't possibly have an idea about unless you were working on the project.

2 + 3. You're forgetting that people are playing Vanilla right now and have been for years, the optimisation is fine on modern hardware and the game runs great, when I tried Nostalrius briefly I had something like 400fps with everything maxed. Sure they can improve things and will want to improve things, but optimisation on modern hardware is a problem we already know doesn't really exist, because we can play it right now.
