that way to appear and eat a gnome makes Dreven in just 10 seconds either a better character than umbric

Dreven doesn't appear to say anything - he just warps in, snatches up the gnome, drains the thing to a skeleton, and then warps out. Well, plus the glare over to the PC that seems to say "and you're going to do what?" Pretty damned cold, all in all.

I'm thinking the San'layn are probably a bit overpowered to constitute a playable or Allied race - although I guess if there's a rank and file of them that aren't necessarily "Blood Princes" it might be workable.

Well Blood Princes are pretty much the top of the chain among the San'layn, outside of the blood queen

That's true, I just don't recall if there are San'layn below the Blood Princes or Lana'thel. There were a few Darkfallen Bearers in and around the Borean Tundra, but they seemed to just be regular Death Knights.

Some of them likely aren't. Talanji herself views the San'layn with open disgust and mistrust, and Rokhan says that while he understands that the Horde is giving them a home now that they're essentially leaderless, if they cause a problem then they'll be tossed out and/or dealt with accordingly.

There are a few of the other Blood Princes unaccounted for (Atherann and Theraldis), and Dreven himself is one we had never seen before.
