A look at the sexism, corruption, and misogyny at Riot Games

    https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueofleg...at_riot_games/

    https://kotaku.com/inside-the-cultur...mes-1828165483

Over the course of several months, Kotaku has spoken to 28 current and former Riot employees, many of whom came forward with stories that echo Lacy’s. Some of those employees spoke on the record; most spoke anonymously because they feared for their future careers in the games industry or they were concerned that League of Legends’ passionate fanbase would retaliate against them for speaking out. Many of those sources painted a picture of Riot as a place where women are treated unfairly, where the company’s culture puts female employees at a disadvantage. Other current employees, speaking on the record, disputed that account, with some top female employees telling Kotaku they had not personally experienced gender discrimination at Riot.

Some former Rioters were bumping this article btw (which lends more credibility imo):

Scarizard was liking a few of these tweets as well Edit: https://twitter.com/ScarizardPlays/s...19535960444928

Ricardo Luis tweeted about it as well (I know I can't link it tho)

The whole men are evil shtick is getting a little old. How about you shut up and go find another job if you're unhappy, stop relying on men for everything.

People on these forums tend to say something along the lines of "Look at the post rather than the poster" but at what point do you just stop and just treat certain posters like broken clocks (They'll sometimes have something decent to talk about but mostly just post crap)?

I'm not really sure if I trust Kotaku, I'll wait and see how it plays out.

That would be the opposite of speaking up though. Staying silent in the face of bad behaviour = you're literally shutting up because you stand to gain from doing so. Men relying on other men and taking shit in the process, is equally wrong.

I read them, and interestingly some actually contradict the sexism claim. "My experiences don't reflect this, but it's an important topic" and "I had a great time, got promoted, etc".

So, we'll see. Could just be a few looking to stir some controversy for their own benefit.

So we have a bunch of idiots anonymously slandering a company.

And it all turned out to be bullshit.

Geeh, who would've seen that coming?

Seems to be a case of some say, some don't, with this specific company. Doesn't really speak of them having some sort of deliberately sexist system in place. All workplaces with many employees, will have rotten apples.

Seems like a pretty damned stupid career move if they speak out using their own names, and useless if they're staying anonymous?

Possible, but that is a lot of people saying the same thing at once. I have very little doubt that a virtue signaling company isn't guilty of this kind of thing.

I'm not saying they aren't guilty. I'm just saying I'm skeptical of anything until I see more concrete information.

    Wow these are pretty laughable

Why not isolate the issues that are ACTUAL issues? Y'know, women getting raped.

lots of these are just women that are angry they didn't get into leadership positions or they weren't skyrocketed for their ideas and therefore aren't "respected". Nobody gives a fuck. Leave.

    Classic move from Riot Games.

They've only released one game, the second game they love playing is fucking with people.

People like to blame failure on sexism/racism/random other reasons all the time rather than look at their own shortcomings.

I hope you realize that things don't go from woman showing up to POW, ZAP, CRACK, full on rape whenever encountering a male with less-than-stellar attitude towards interacting with the other sex.

There's a ladder, the rape is the extreme outcome. As someone personally affected, I can testify that being constantly hit on by a man in a leading position, is debilitating. And I wasn't even looking to progress in the company, but he could still have given me bad credentials...

Plenty of people give a fuck these days. Justified or not, social media = feels are at the top.

That being said, it can very well come down to people feeling slighted over the fact that they didn't advance. Everyone's got access to some sort of card to scapegoat these days, when they can't accept that they simply lost out to someone else.

Wow that really sucks that you had to be nice to your boss. Nobody could have any idea what that must have been like.
